Gary Bids Farewell

Baseball has always been something that I have cherished and loved to play, but it is very hard to comprehend that my competitive days are slowly coming to an end. Even though baseball for me will continue after college, it will never be the same knowing that this is the last year I will ever wear the St. Mary’s logo again with my closest friends. Knowing that this is the last year I will ever be with the people who I have created unconditional friendships with is disheartening. I have had a terrific four years at Saint Mary’s and would not change the people that I have met or the things that I have done for anything in the world. I have created lifelong friends which I will cherish for the rest of my life, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have helped me along the way.

First and foremost, I would like to thank my parents, Paul and Linda Seifert, who if it wasn’t for their support, I would not be in the position that I am today. Your selflessness and unbelievable support have pushed me to my greatest potential. Your life lessons have helped me develop into the person I am today, and it is because of your love that my dreams have come true. I am forever in your debt for everything you have done, and I just want you to know how much I love and appreciate the both of you. Thanks MOM and DAD. Young boy Cleetis and Corn Dog, I’m sorry these last four years I have been away so much, but hopefully now I will be able to spend more time and catch up with you guys. You two mean the world to me and I know I may not be the best example of an older brother, but I hope you know I love you both more than you can imagine.

To my family, I know you have all heard this before from my basketball salute, but I want to reiterate how much it means to have your love and support behind me. Grandpa and Grandma Johnson, thanks for the countless things you have done to help get me through these last four years. Your love and support is something I will always cherish, and hopefully now, with school being over soon, we can share some more laughs together. Grandpa and Grandma Seifert, thanks for all the gift baskets, they helped make me feel at home on days when I was feeling homesick. I Love you both very much. Phil and Luita, I can’t thank you enough for all your support, and I always love seeing your faces. To Al and Sharon Hines thanks for being the greatest godparents ever. I would just like to thank all my family members who have helped me get to where I am now and would like to mention everybody, but you know how much I love each and every one of you.

The Feriancek’s- Matty main, It is going to be tough living without you from here on out. Having you as my roommate, teammate, and loyal friend is something I will cherish forever. You the man and I hope the world for you. Mike, ha you’re a turd, but I am happy you chose Saint Mary’s. I look at you like a younger brother and wish you well with all your endeavors. Tom and Lisa it is always nice seeing you, a couple hours early ha, but never the less your support has been great, and I am truly thankful to have become part of your family. Thanks for everything

Rachel Amy Sievers- You are the one I should be thanking the most. Although everyone supported me throughout my career at Saint Mary’s, they weren’t the ones by my side through it all. You have been a blessing, and I hope you know how much you mean to me.

To the senior class, it’s amazing how fast time goes by but these last four years have been a Joy. I Have created great friendships with each and every one of you, and hope to keep in touch long after we have
graduated.

Midway, Midway Chodes, Midway Chodaboy, and Broomer (Chris Bogie)- What can I say besides Creighton attitude. Ha I couldn’t imagin playing ball for the last four years with a better friend. I’ll see you in the cities eventually so I’m not too worried about not seeing you. We made it lil fella, and it is going to be sad not seeing you each day. Ps you should leave the chest hair.

Ruf Dog- I’m very thankful that you decided to get out of that dump of a school Winona State, and come to Saint Mary’s to play baseball. We have the same type of personality and I love shooting the breez with you. I hope to meet up a couple of times over the summer to share some priceless laughs. Even though we get absolutely nothing done in class when we sit next to each other, I am going to miss those times together. This is my shout out to Erica as well

Ruda Bear (Andrew)- Even though you hate it when I joke around with you in class, I know you enjoy me being there. We have been through our fair share of ups and downs as a team, but it is always nice to see you fighting for us. Your selflessness in the classroom and on the field is something I will always appreciate. Ps don’t let little ole Liz tell you what to do, ha just playing liz.

Scooter- You are the man that was always down for a good laugh, and I loved your charisma. Even though you get a little greedy sometimes ha, I love your sense of human and outlook on life. You are truly an inspiration and am going to miss the walks to your place from JC Penny.

O’Dell- Wassup lil fella. Joey it has been real fun getting to know you these last two years. You’re a crazy character, but love your upbeat personality ha. Im going to miss you poking your head out of the dungeon hall, you live in, every morning chiefy.

Lechner- I was going to call you by your nickname but that might be inappropriate. (Lactation) tee hee. We have shared some good laughs over the last four years and it is going to be tough to see everybody go their separate ways. It seems like just the other day I was breaking into your room freshman year.

Tweezler (David)- first things first I think you owe me a few presents after all those shin skippers you have thrown me in practice ha. Tweez its crazy knowing that this will be our last year’s putting on the Saint Mary’s logo, but I am very thankful to have been able to put it on with you.

I would also like to thank Daniel Geraghty. It’s going to be very hard, when it hits me , knowing that I will no longer be able to see you every day, because of the friendship that we have developed. I couldn’t imagine a better clown to spend time with. Tbass shoutout. Thanks for the great times these last two years and I hope for more to come. I would also like to mention Curt Swanson. Churt, What are you trying to prove. You have the ability to make people laugh whenever, and that is truly something to be jealous of. I am going to miss your laugh, but keep on keepin on kid.

To all the underclassman. It has been a pleasure to get to know each and every one of you. I wish I could mention everybody and explain how much I appreciate each of you, but that might take more space than I’m allowed. You may not realize it now but these days go by way to fast, so if there is one thing I have learned it’s cherish every moment. I loved getting to know each and every one of you, and wish you the best of luck down the road.

I would also like to thank all the former players who I played with for their friendships and support

I’d like to thank the basketball team for being my biggest fans. Lukas, Pat, and Will I would like to shout out to, but I won’t go into detail because they already know how much they mean through my basketball salute.

I would also like to thank all the clowns at the house. It has been a blast this year and am very thankful to get to know each of you. You know who you are ha.

I would also like to thank the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this program, Coach Nick Winecke, Pat Jacobson, Alex Schmidt, Kyle Ryan, Chad Ogden. I would also like to thank former coaches for getting me ready for the next level, coaches Jeff Ryan, Brad Matzek, and John Syverson.

I would like to take this time to thank all of those who I did not mention. I would love to mention everybody but there is not enough space, so that is why I am taking this time to thank everybody who has helped influence my life, and has helped me reach my goals.

With the deepest sincerity, thank you.
