The past four years at SMU have left me speechless; the unforgettable friendships and ongoing memories are never ending and will always be a huge part of my life. These past four years have shaped me as in individual as well as a team mate. I couldn’t imagine any other group of girls to spend every waking moment with. There are so many memories within past and present players that will never and can never be replaced. I will on no account ever forget the time spent with all of you; cherish every moment because it goes faster that you will ever imagine.
Coaches, I would like to thank you for putting up with 20+ girls these past four years. I know it can be challenging at times but we really do appreciate your patience and commitment towards our team. Without you guys we wouldn’t be the players we are today. A special shout out to Tennie, I will never forget your boot camp, thank you for making our lives miserable for the first two weeks of freshman year tryouts! In the end, it built character, disciplinary actions, respect, and most importantly CARDINAL PRIDE.
A huge shout out to all of my super fans! All the girls in 106 and 112, you represent well. I am always proud to claim you as my best friends, thanks for all the support! I always know you are all there when I hear an “Alex Braun” chant, it makes my day!
I would also like to thank my mom and dad for their utmost support and encouragement throughout the years. Your dedication and pride in my teams is incredible. I admire that I never have to second guess if someone is going to be at my games. Thank you for all the road trips, traveling, long nights at the rink, listening, and most importantly being there when I needed you most. Beau, it’s been an awesome past three years. Thanks for all the great memories, keep working hard and good things will come.
Teammates, present and past, thank you for making these past four years the best years of my life. Freshman, thank you for introducing me to pillow pets, #twitter, and new friendships. Cherish every moment as if it’s your last, four years flies by faster than you’ll ever envision. Sophomores, its’ been an adventure getting to know each and every one of you, everything from speed dating to having the opportunity to play with all of you has been a blessing. There is more depth within your class than you’ll ever know; through support, leadership, and talent, you guys will be very successful in years to come. And then there were two. Julie and Erin, I can’t begin thanking you for the everlasting encouragement, motivation, and support you have shown me the past years. Your dedication to this team is shown through your determination and strong work ethic. You are both great leaders; I know your leadership and enthusiasm will take the team to a proud successful season. I would like to wish you all the best of luck in the years to come!
Seniors, each and everyone one of you have important attributes that you bring to the team, without these, we wouldn’t be where we are today. I can remember the first time I met Nicole and Rachel at the Augsburg rink. At that very moment, I knew I was going to have some of the best friendships and memories for years to come. Nicole, you are a strong, driven, and poised individual. I know your leadership skills will aid in a successful future. Rach, thank you for always keeping me positive and putting a smile on my face. I know I can always rely on you for someone to talk to if I am ever in need. Thanks for contributing to my many memories at SMU, I would have never made it to morning workouts without your moon boots! Sheree, you are 100% my favorite foreigner! Thank you for trusting Tennie in coming to SMU, without you the team wouldn’t be complete. Your dedication to this team is unbelievable. I know you are one to have an extremely busy schedule, but I appreciate the time and effort in making our team better. Dana, it has been great getting to know you these past few years. You have been an awesome D partner and friend; I always know you are someone I can rely on. Thanks for being so organized, your efforts have contributed greatly to the success we have had these past four years. Lastly, mads… thank you for being by my side and making life less stressful when you were in the net. I always had confidence in you because your drive for success and positive attitude reflected your hard work ethic on and off the ice. To all teammates, I will miss all of you; remember to stay positive, never give up, and play every game as if it’s your last.
