These last two years on the softball team have been some of the greatest memories of my life. I could not ask for better coaches, teammates, and fans who have supported me throughout my time here on the softball field.
First, I would like to thank my mom and dad for everything they have done for me throughout my life and sports career. I would not be half the person I am today if it was not for you two. Thank you for always believing in me and for being so supportive of everything that I do!
Along with my parents, I would also like to thank my sister and best friend, Kristi, for always being there for me through the ups and downs. Being hours and hours apart from you has only made me realize that I have the best sister in the world, and that distance really means nothing. I love you so much!
Miller- Thank you for everything you have done for me these past two years and for your commitment to this softball program. Your dedication and passion for coaching is inspiring for me as I hope to one day become a head coach. Thanks for being patient with me and signs. I might still get them down one day!
Cbray- My team job this year of doing whatever you told me to do turned out to be not so bad after all! Thanks for pushing me to be the best player I can be and for believing in me. I am going to miss you always reminding me of how fast I am though!
Cassie- Thanks for all your great outfield tips. I could not have done it without you! Also, thanks for always believing in me even when I make catches look a lot harder then they should be. Your upbeat and fun personality has been such a positive part of our team!
Balls and Kellie- It has been a privilege to play with you guys and to have you both for assistant coaches this year. Your knowledge for the game has helped me grow as a player!
Nicole- I am so glad you decided to play your last year here. The team would not have been the same without you. I love how you give your all every single time you step out on to the field.
Bre- Your dedication to this softball program over the last four years is incredible. You are such a positive influence on this team. Keep up the hard work and good luck after graduation. I know you will do great things!
Paige- AKA Piaget! It has been so fun having the chance to play with you. You are an incredible ball player and leader. I’ll never forget our last night in Florida this year and all the great memories I have with you. Ok. Ok. Ok!
Hailey- You bring so much fun and enthusiasm to our team! Your positive, never give up attitude is so contagious. I can’t wait to come back and watch you play for your senior year! P.S. you are the best pre-game speech giver ever. I still can’t believe they did not get hotel rooms!
Julie- Holy crap do you have a cannon from right field. Cloud nine is where it is at! You have the most team spirit ever and that’s what it so great about you. Good luck with your internship this summer and with school, hockey, and softball next year!
Kayla- It has been great getting to know you and your family through softball. You have been our anchor this year! Keep working hard and being confident on that mound! If anyone is ever missing a part of their uniform, be sure to check with Kayla first!
Anna- So glad I got to have you as a hitting/fielding partner this year. You have made softball so fun, and I am glad you decided to come to SMU and play! I am going to miss your great dance moves and hearing EHHHHH every single day!
Erin- You were the best roommate ever to have in Florida. It has been so fun these past two years playing out field and infield with you! Keep hitting bombs and being awesome E!
Samie- Samie... Samie… Samie. You are the greatest teammate anyone could ever ask for. I am going to miss you calling me Mitch and having you sing to me on the bus. Actually, I am going to miss you all together!
Angie- I am going to miss sitting by you on the bus too! You better make sure that whoever sits in front of you next year is as cool as I am! I can’t wait to watch you pitch again! Be patient with your arm and when you are back, ROCK that mound!
Kristen- Ms. Wonder, Stretch, Kristi; I never have met anyone with so many nicknames! It was awesome seeing you improve so much from last year. You are the player who does all the little things right that make big difference on a team! Keep it up!
Laura- I am so glad you were around this year, and also glad that I got to room with you in Arizona AND Florida! I wish I could beat you at one game though: Either idiot, cribbage, or ping-pong! Maybe one day. Thanks for being so supportive to SMU softball!
Mel- You got swag girl! I am so glad Homewood, Illinois brought you here! You work so hard and give your all every single day. Glad I got the chance to play with you! See you in Michigan!
Alex- Girlllll, you got some mad skills, one heck of an arm, and an awesome bat! I am very excited to watch you play in the upcoming years! Skemp as a senior? Maybe!
Sam B.- You are such a hard worker. I know I said this on the sign I made for you earlier this year, but this quote always makes me think of you: “Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard.” KEEP IT UP, and good things will continue to come your way!
Tessa- I do not think there is ever a moment when you are not smiling. Your positive attitude and work ethic has been such a great attribute to this team. OYE!
I would also like give a big thanks to last years seniors as well: Mal, Balls, Jo, and Kellie. You are four of the best leaders ever and should be very proud of all your contributions to the SMU softball program. Thanks for making me feel so welcome on the team last year and for all the great laughs!
Here’s a shout out to all my friends outside of softball who have supported me at my games. Thanks for always being there and cheering me on. Stevie, Courtney A., Courtney E., Britt, Coco, Nasty, Corrine, Kaitlyn, Sarah… you girls are da best!
Mary- Thanks for your commitment to our team and for being my trainer these past four years! Also, thanks for shagging balls for us and hitting grounders when we were a little short on help. Your dedication to softball and sports is greatly appreciated!
Playing SMU softball has been one of the greatest experiences I have ever had in my life, and I am going to miss the game, my coaches, teammates, and fans more than anything! Being a Cardinal will be a part of me forever. <3 |
