A Word From Coach Mannor

A Word From Coach Mannor

Erin Stenseth
It was a “bitter sweet” moment when Erin accepted my offer to help coach the team this season.  As a player, Erin was a fierce competitor willing to do anything to help her team succeed.  This willingness attitude is the reason she is coaching today.  As a two sport athlete (hockey and softball), Erin sustained a shoulder injury last spring that eventually required surgery to repair.  While playing in obvious pain and with the knowledge she was doing damage to her shoulder, Erin refused to stop playing.  To Erin, the team is more important than the individual regardless of the situation.  There is no doubt I believe Erin would have helped our team as a player this year, but I also believe she helped this team equally in her role as a coach.  While being a “sounding board” for many players, Erin was able to pass along her experience and knowledge of the game to this year’s players.  Erin, I have great respect for your competitive drive and I thank you for everything you have given to this program both as a player and a coach

Julie Bartosz
Through the combination of hard work, determination, and dedication, Julie has become the player she is today.  Each year Julie has spent in the program her role has expanded.  From someone who saw limited ice time during her freshman season, to a senior playing a vital role on both the power play and in particular, the penalty kill.  Julie is an individual who epitomizes the term “student-athlete”.  Not only has she been a two sport athlete (hockey and softball), Julie currently holds positions as the Cardinal Newspaper Editor in Chief, SMU Alumni Association Intern, and Colleges Against Cancer Event Development Chair.  Obviously, Julie is a very driven individual who has taken advantage of every opportunity offered to her.  Too top things off, Julie will be graduating with honors this spring.  Julie, I thank you for everything you have given not only to the hockey program, but to the SMU campus as a whole.
