Sam Bids Farewell

Sam Bids Farewell

Four years has come and gone, but it has been an eventful time. Freshman year was a lot of fun with the guys I came in with, and the memories will last forever. Some of these include spring break, England, van rides, small talks with Rangitsch during doubles, lightning bolts, hot route, and many more.  I will cherish all the memories we all have had over the years.

I can’t believe all that we have been through. I want to thank Coach Halberg because he was the reason for us being here and helped us grow as individuals. Halberg: Man it has been a long road since freshman year. I can’t believe that I made it this far, but a lot of it is credited to you. I can never repay you for all the help you have given me. Thank you for helping me with my papers and homework through the years. I cannot thank you enough. Thank you for being passionate about the game of tennis and each player as an individual. P.s. I still blame you for when I threw those two games. You know what I am talking about. Duden: Thank you for helping me on the court last year and this year. I will miss our little side conversations before, during, and after matches that had no relevance to tennis. I will see you on Thursday when the season is over. Dr. S: Thank you for coaching and dealing with us for the past 4 years. We were a burden on van rides sometimes. Thank you for the Friday hitting sessions over the years when my game was not where it should have been.

To my other coaches. Dwyer: Thank you for coaching me all through high school. You helped me accomplish a lot of my goals in high school, and hopefully I can coach with you one day. We climbed the rock. Bill: Thank you for coaching me these past 5 summers. You’re an inspirational person to me, and I am very happy that we have become friends. You taught me a lot about tennis, but more importantly, life lessons that I will never forget. MTC coaches: Thank you all for creating a great environment, and producing great players. Dave, you are one of the kindest people I have met, and I am thankful for all that you did.

To the three guys that have made tennis an enjoyable experience: Lunka, Bobby, and Rangitsch. I don’t know what I would have done without you guys. These 4 years have been a blast with all of you, and I hope to keep in touch when school ends. Lunka: you are one of the funniest people I know. I had a great time over these 4 years with you, and I hope to keep our friendship going. Thank you for teaching me a lot about tennis over the years, and putting up with me when I wanted to quit tennis. Bobby: You are the most fashionably late person I know when it comes to being on time for the car ride! Beside that I am very happy I met you, and when we played doubles together senior year of high school, I knew you were a great person. We have had a lot of fun boober, and I want it to continue. Rangitsch: WHERES MY SHOE! Probably one of my best memories of you. Playing doubles with you sophomore and junior year was a blast. Pretty sure we talked about doubles a minute amount compared to what we usually did while playing doubles. I have a lot of great memories with you, and I hope they keep coming. You are by far the most improved player on our team from freshman year, and I’m glad you stuck around.

My family members have led me to this point in my career, and some should be acknowledged. Mom: I hate double faulting because I know you’re giving me that look. It keep myself motivated to get the serves in because of that look haha. Thank you for supporting me all my life in tennis, and allowing me to pursue my goals. I cannot thank you enough for all that you have done for me. Dad: Thank you for coming to my matches and supporting me. I was glad to see how dedicated you were to come and see me wherever we went. Thank you for all that you have done. Gammy and Papa: Thank you both for letting me play in Florida and Somerset. I am very appreciative for what you both have done for me and thank you for all the support over the years. Danny and Katie: Thank you for playing tennis with me when I was younger and helping me to improve my game. Thank you for the invitation to the mixon cabin this past summer to play tennis. Danny, pretty sure you I can take your money on the court, but the pool table is all yours. Siblings: Thank you all for coming to my matches, and supporting me. I loved seeing all of you there for my matches in high school and college.  Kate: Thank you for all that you have done this past year. I appreciate all that you have done, and thank you for dealing with me after long matches. I wouldn’t be able to do it without you.

Of course, I would not make it this far in my career without the trainers. Seriously, I would never have made it. Mary: Thank you for taking care of me until my junior year. There were a lot of ghost injuries I had, and you helped treat them all. I really don’t know what I could have done without you. Bill: yes you finally get your mention. I may have been a pain coming in all the time, but I know you enjoyed my company. Thank you for helping with my injuries, and getting me through my seasons. Jill and Ben: Thank you both for all that you did this year. It has been fun getting to know both of you, and hopefully I will be injury free after this year (knock on wood). Jill, keep candy in your office because I will steal it.

To the players from the past, Mino: I loved those sick angle volleys you always hit. Justin: It was fun being your doubles partner freshman year even if we had our highs and lows. Wiggy: it was a good time to hang out with you on and off the court, especially off the court winning the football championship. Present player, Blake: oh my god, worst tennis match ever, and many more are the phrases I will remember you by. You’re a good player and I know you will improve over your 4 years. Just don’t hit your finger with an overhead again. Colin: good work this year and I expect the same next year. You’ll be a good player in the next 4 years, and if I come back next year I will work with you. Warren: Good work this year. I know you didn’t get to play in the lineup too often, but you have the potential to become a great player. You show signs of it in practice and matches. Keep up the hard work. Garen: you did very well this year, and you will improve over these 4 years. I know you can be a good player.
