Molly Bids Farewell

Molly Bids Farewell

The thought of even having to write my senior salute is a daunting task. What can I say and put into words to comprise the four years I have spent being a part of this team. The countless hours at practice, max weights being lifted, time spent on the bus, and competing against teams from all over the Midwest has all lead to the best and hardest four years of my life. From the high moments, like playing at Concordia in the playoffs in 2013, to the low moments, like ending a season too soon or graduating seniors, the volleyball years just go too fast. Now it is my turn to say goodbye and let the younger generations lead the way.

Now to start with the long list of thank yous. Trust me, it will be worth reading!

To my family, Mom, Dad, and Torie, you have been my main support system. In my years of volleyball, all three of you have been there at countless number of games. You all must be really sick of bleachers! Dad, I appreciate you listening to me whenever I needed you to and giving me the advice I needed to hear, even if I did not want to hear it. You have also kept me looking at life in a very positive point of view. Mom, I could not imagine volleyball without you in it. Just seeing you in the stands makes me feel like I have all the support in the world. Torie, even though our lives have made it hard for us to see each other, you have always found a weekend to come watch me play, I am grateful for that. I love all of you so much and I would not trade you for the world.

To my Michael, ohhh how you have learned so much about the sport of volleyball since we have been dating. I love and appreciate the support you have given me and I will spend my life returning the favor to you.

ROOMIES! Maya, Sara, and Maddy thank you so much for sitting front row at the games. It is always great to know I have you all there to keep the humor coming from the sidelines and the winks and waves are a great confidence boost. Love you!

Kar Bear- I wish I could rewind and play with you again, or just relive our freshmen year together. Either way I miss having you close to me! LOVES ?

Ellie and Rachel- You two deserved a shout out! Thanks for coming to support me when you could, we all have very busy lives, but you find time to watch me play. Thank you and love you!

Coaches:
Coach Lester- Thank you for recruiting me to come here. The opportunity to play volleyball, the amazing people I have met, and th experiences I have been through would not have happened if I was not recruited by you and Tessa.

Jackie- You are such a funny, but yet very serious person. I am thankful you chose to stick around for another year, since the first three years I played I had three different assistant coaches. You push us all to become better players everyday.

Rohde- Your insight and advice on the sidelines has really helped me to succeed in my time here. I always look forward to having you at practice, mostly because I extremely enjoy the stories you tell about your day at school and your sarcastic one-liners. Do not forget to still share your father’s old photos with me because they are right up my alley.

Billiam- Thanks for putting up with me, and the rest of the volleyball team. Your driving skills are truly appreciated; ohh and your trainer skills came in handy, too. I will never forget some of you comments as we were driving up Pikes Peak in Colorado; “We are going up there? Do you see those roads?” DTB (Don’t Tell Bill)

Sagar- Thank you for creating a good lifting program for us this year. It has and will continue to create a stronger volleyball program.

To my teammates:
Erika and Ku- You were both great leaders to have my freshmen year. I still cannot believe I was scared of Erika on my first day of tryouts! Wow, how three months together can bring us so much closer together.

Carissa, Cathy, Megan, Tara, and Bree- I was such a fun year with you five leading the way. You were the ones to help me find my voice out on the court. I miss seeing you all on a daily basis, but I do enjoy the casual updates on Facebook and looking at all your new pictures.

Bunne and Lexi- I will never forget the success we had last year. You two were very talented players and great people. I am glad I got to play with you for three years and got to know you both so well. I know you are doing great things and will continue to do even greater things in your futures.

To my current teammates:
SENIOR POWER!
Mary- You are a great player, I do not know what we would have done the last four years if we did not have your long arms reaching over that net. What I do know is that we would not have had as many blocks that is FOR SURE!

Janae- Your positive attitude is always so inspiring. I really enjoyed our sideline talks during timeouts and how much “advice” we gave each other. Good luck with everything. I know you will do great at grad school.

Jenna (and yes I am counting you as a senior)- Where to begin… 90-10. This is my 10. You are such a knowledgeable player. Your consistency and drive towards everything volleyball is amazing. I have no doubt you will continue to have volleyball in your future, and do great things with it. Love you much!

ALLLLL the Juniors
Tayler- Keep up the hard work captain. I have loved watching you grow into the leader you are this year. Keep taking the team to the next level.

Jordan- Our comic relief! I can always turn to you when I need a laugh. You are a great player; your ability to be agile and quick makes you a great asset to our defense.

Emily- As much as I know you hate it, I love to hear about your science problems! Your animated stories are always an extra ab workout for the team. Your drive and passion will take you far!

Macki- I am so happy you decided to play. I know you have made me a better player by pushing me during practice. I cannot wait to see you kill it on the court next year, even though I won’t be there to give you any goals. ?

Alex- A.P. You are a talented player. Your “new” knee is going to make you stronger, and make playing just that much more sweet. Continue to be the confident player you are.  -G

Lex- You never cease to amazing me with some of the moves you make, and most of the time I question how you roll and get up that quick! You have the best talk when your on the court, never lose that.

Kenzie- Your positive attitude is contagious on the court. Keep doing great things on the outside. I can’t wait to hear about all your teaching stories!

Sophomore Status
Moe- Keep working for our team. You make a difference on the court. You help everyone stay confident hitting because they know you and Lex are there when we get blocked.

Urban- It has been so fun getting to know the funny Urban this year! Keep swinging away on the court; you have a mean hit and not many people will be able to stop you.

Maddie- The team and I would be rich if we actually had a “I’m Sorry” jar for you ? You have a great attitude and a silly personality. Stay confident and continue to work hard!

Freshies
Brittney- You were the hardest freshmen for me to figure out. On the first day of season, I only heard you say 3 words. Now when you are around you do not stop talking. Try not to miss me too much next year when I am not your roomie.

Sara- I can confidently say you are the funniest one on the team and you are weirder then me! Keep up your dedication at practice. You are going to become a great middle.

Clare- I have loved getting to know you this year. Your consistency is a great addition to our team; keep making a different on the court.

Cassidy- Work hard to get that ankle better! You are going to be dangerous against other teams.

Lastly, thanks to all the fans, the faculty, students, and friends that came out to support us over my four years. You guys are the best!
I could not have imagined my senior year with any other group of ladies, but you all. To my fellow seniors, we will move on to great things. To the underclassmen, kill it next year. You will have us cheering you on, no matter where we are. Thank you all for making my senior year a great one! Love you all!
