Tommy Bids Farewell
I can’t believe how fast my years at Saint Mary’s haven flown by. I’d like to give a big thank you to the people who were a big part of my hockey career which include my family, all of my coaches throughout the years and all of my teammates. Through many ups and downs, you all have guided and supported me during the twenty years of playing the game of hockey.
To my family, Dad, Mom and Kimi: You three have helped me become the person I am today, on and off the ice. I cannot thank you guys enough for the sacrifices that you have made for me during my hockey career. From taking me to early morning private lessons before school, to trips to Canada the day after Christmas, to driving up to Minnesota almost every weekend to watch me play. It all means so much to me and I am very thankful to have such a strong and loving family! To April: Sometimes when guys get girlfriends, their game goes to hell. But that wasn’t that case for me. Thank you for always being there for me and listening to me complain through the tough times.
To the coaching staff: Thank you very much for switching me from a defenseman to a centerman. Haha. But seriously, thank you for always having faith in me and giving me the opportunity to be a Cardinal for the past four years. You guys are great supporters of your players, and it truly means a lot. To Donny: It has been a blast working with you this past year and I want to thank you for everything that you’ve done for me!
To all of the boys: Coming to the rink, screaming like an idiot to keep the energy up, and battling night in, night out was all so natural when I was doing it with a bunch of beauties! Playing hockey with you guys has been an absolute privilege, but being able to call you all my brothers is truly amazing. I’ll never forget all the inside jokes, the bangers had at the hockey house, the Thursday pasta dinners, the stories told during court, the ridiculous SnapChats, and obviously, our Wednesday Wing Nights! I’m going to miss seeing you guys everyday but I hope that we all stay close even after we graduate. To the Steel Dragons, bowling and hockey squads: We sure have had some memorable times on the lanes and the ice. Using the “I have bowling practice” excuse made procrastinating homework that much easier. And to my roomies, Scotty, Michael, Balks, Darby, Christie and Easton: You guys have made college an epic journey for me and it wouldn’t have been the same without you. It is going to be weird being physically away from you boys, but I know that no matter where we are, we’ll always be family.
Thank you again to everyone who has made my hockey career an amazing and unforgettable one.
