Grace Bids Farewell

Grace Bids Farewell

I am not sure where to start with this and I’m usually not very good with this kind of thing, but I’ll give it a try.

I’ve played tennis since about fourth grade and I want to thank my parents for supporting me throughout the entire time I’ve played. Thank you for always giving my rides and paying for everything, especially when there was a shoe emergency. Mom, thanks for playing with me every summer until I could win; I don’t remember the last time we played, but I appreciate it.  I also want to thank my sisters, Brooke and Tara for supporting me during my tennis career as well. I don’t know if I ever would have played tennis if Tara hadn’t done it first. Thanks for everything.

I want to thank Coach Halberg and Coach Duden for the last few years, it’s been fun. I started out as just a doubles player, but this past year I had to play singles too. Singles is definitely not my first choice, I would much rather play doubles, but thank you for helping me develop that part of my game as well as others. Now read close because I’m only going to write this once, I don’t hate singles anymore, it’s ok. I don’t like it, but I don’t hate it. That’s all you’re getting out of me about that.

I have always been the only one from my year on the women’s tennis team. So the team is completely different now than from when I started. The one thing that has stayed the same is that I’ve always seen the team as my family. The girls who graduated before me are like my older sisters. Bailey – I will always play mafia with you. Abby – I still miss the random singing at practice. Dre – You’re the only person I’ve meet as sarcastic as I am. Rachel – I think of you whenever I see Bad Girls Club is on TV. Killian – I miss sitting next you on van rides. D – My favorite color is purple or orange and if I could be a color it would be Fun shirt purple and I still look stuff up on my googler. The girls who transferred are like my little sisters. McKennah – I’ve never met anyone quite like you and I don’t think I ever will. Lexi – I miss playing doubles with you and if you ever need advice you won’t listen to, let me know.

And now for my current teammates:

Lindsey – I’m really going to miss you next year. I would say we’ve been friends since my freshman year and you stayed in my room instead of Bailey’s. I know you will have a great senior year and I wish I could be there to see it. Bring the action, and that’s probably the only time I’ll ever say/write that to you. Sorry, but you’re going to have to find a new roommate for tennis trips.

Stacey – I’m glad I’ve gotten to know you more and more over the last few years. I know I’m going to miss you next year and I’m pretty sure Petey will miss seeing you at matches too. I enjoyed finally getting to meet Max this year. Have some good senior year tea parties and I hope nothing is so irritating next year that you would rather eat glass.

Leanne – I’m going to miss hanging out with you next year and our quality five minute car rides to and from practice. I’m sorry I can’t be there to warm up with you every day next year. Once I’m gone you’ll be the calmest person on the team, good luck with the tea parties. Choose wisely who will take my spot in the van.

Katie – It was fun playing doubles with you my last year. I’m glad I was able to help you enjoy doubles more than singles, welcome to the dark side. Good luck next year and I hope you hit a certain someone the next time you play her.

Megan – I’m glad I got to know you this year and that you enjoy food as much as I do or that apologizes so much. Thanks for supporting me in not wanting my roommates to be home after long van trips. Also, make sure you put your tank top on the right side out.

Lindsay in the Corner – I enjoyed playing doubles with you that one time, I wish we could’ve been able to do it again. I’m also glad to know you always had my back on wearing the skirts backwards.

Haley – I enjoyed getting to know you this year and I will miss your, not so secret, “usies” in the van rides. Also it was nice to have someone to go to the Lego store with in Chicago.

Allie – I’m sorry you weren’t able to finish out the season, I know next year will be better for you. I’m glad I got to know you this year. Enjoy any future tea parties the team may have.

The last few things I want my team to remember is, mafia is the best game besides tennis, the red skirts are just as comfy backwards as they are forwards, and skulls go with everything.
