Jed Bids Farewell

Jed Bids Farewell

The life of a hockey player is an extraordinary one. Over the course of my career I have been able to create many lasting memories. All of that could not have been possible without the support of my parents. To my mom and dad, I cannot put into words how fortunate I am to have you two in my life. For 20 years, I have been playing this great game and you’ve stood by me the entire time. I’ll never forget going to Las Vegas for a Squirt Tournament, or to Florida for Nationals. All the road trips we made together are some of the best moments of my life and I love you for every single one of them.

Being a member of the Saint Mary’s Cardinal men’s hockey team for the last four years has truly been a blessing, but none of it would have been possible without Coach Bill Moore. You were there for me when I had nowhere to go, I am so grateful that you came into my life. Thank you for everything you have done for me. Coach Jay Reszka - We really like to yell at each other. Half the time I did it because it was funny. You’re a tremendous person who works very hard for the team and I thank you for that, it has been a fun four years. Coach Ben Kinne - You’ve only been here one year, but you have made a great impact. Thank you for spending extra time with me and the entire team to help us strive to be better. Jill Collum - Our team mom. You have done everything any athlete could ever ask. I will never forget all the times we had together in the training room.

To my roommates - This last year has been a memorable one, we even have basketball hoops in our place! Big Brad - You are one of the nicest guys I have ever met. All I ask is that you keep riding your bike to class every day because you know walking is a complete waste of time. Marty #bythebeardofGruse -The skies the limit buddy. Nothing better than seeing you score again and again and again, thank you for being such a good friend. Gaffy - It has been quite a trip. We all know you are going to be successful in the financial world, I just hope that you remember us little people. Bob (Doug) Marx - I don’t know what I’m going to do next year when you are not around. You have been my best friend since I got here. Make sure you have a pull out couch at Dental School for me when I come visit, because I know it won’t be long.

To all the boys - The last four years have been the best part of my life. Getting bagged, lifting, yoga, champion hill, running periods, physically beating the crap out of each other every day for 6 months. Sometimes it’s rough, but there is nowhere else I would rather be than in that locker room. Freshmen – don’t blink because the next thing you know you are in the library writing this letter, trying the piece together the rest of your life. You guys are the future of this program and I am excited to follow you over the next couple years. Walzy - make sure that you keep your stall clean. Sophomores – you guys really brought a new attitude to the team last year, great group of guys with big hearts. Bergo – you are truly one of a kind, I don’t even know what else to write. Juniors – only one year left, take advantage of it. Seniors – I couldn’t be happier that I stayed this this year with you guys. Wolter – I have never met anyone as loyal as you, you are a true friend and I will always appreciate everything that you have done for me. The Team - You have all had a great impact on my life, this year has been a blast.

Saint Mary’s University will forever hold a special place in my heart. I have made lasting memories with people I never thought I would. From going bowling with the baseball players or yelling at the volleyball games being a student athlete here has been an honor, one that I will never forget.
