Lex Bids Farewell

Lex Bids Farewell

I can not believe I am typing my senior salute, I feel like I was a freshman just yesterday. I do not know how I am going to keep myself from writing a novel but here we go!

To my Mom, Dad, Kyle, and the rest of my family. I cannot put into words how much I appreciate the long drives, flights, early mornings, late nights, and the support you have given me throughout my entire career playing volleyball. You all have gone above and beyond when supporting me and I will forever be thankful. Mom thank you for always taking me to your volleyball games and teaching me what volleyball is all about. Dad thank you for all the hours you spent in the front yard hitting balls at me with no mercy, it really did make me a better player. To my best friend and other half Kyle, thank you for always being my peppering and gym buddy.

Shelby: Thank you for always supporting us at all our games! It feels like yesterday that we had orientation together, and now were roomies and lifelong friends. I cannot wait to be little old ladies with a bunch of cats. P.S. Can’t wait to be one of your bridesmaids?

Kenz: Remember when we first met and I tried getting you to come to SMU and you thought I was crazy? LOL Look at us now! You have been such a great friend and roommate. I have loved playing on the court with you, and can’t wait to make more memories after we graduate.

Coach Lester: Thank you for the opportunities you have given me throughout my career at SMU. I have learned so many things from you that I will carry with me after I graduate. I still believe I was recruited as an outside.

Jackie: JAQUIE! You have been such a great coach and friend over the last few years. You are always there for me on and off the court and I will always appreciate everything you do for us. I am really going to miss messing around with you before practice and the fun hair dos you give me. Keep it together Carol!

Rhode: Thank you for all the time you dedicate to helping us at practice. I have learned so much from you and thank you for always keeping the mood so light with your funny personality and funny stories.

Jenna Ness: Thank you for making my freshman year such a great year. You helped me through so many things that year and I can’t appreciate enough the time you took out of your day. You are an amazing coach and your girls over at Loras are a very lucky group of girls.

Matt Sagar: You have been such a great asset to our success and I can’t thank you enough. You kick our butts and make us work so hard and

Billiam: Thank you for all the time you put into helping us not fall apart throughout the seasons. Still a little salty about you hiding my shoes and making me late to practice…not funny.

Jill: Thank you for your dedication and work you put into helping us old ladies! Thank you for always being there for me when I need someone to talk to and also being my adopted mom at school?

Donny Nadeau: Thank you for your dedication and hard work, you do so much for the school and us and we cannot thank you enough.

Carissa, Meghan, Cathy, Tara: Thank you for being amazing seniors! You guys made my freshman year one of my best years at SMU and I have learned so much from all of you. You all made me feel so welcomed and were always there to talk to.

Lexi and Bunne: Where do I even begin. You guys have been such great friends and teammates and I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me. Since day one you guys took me under your wing and showed me the ropes. Thank you for accepting my weirdness and also being weirdos along with me. #KCCO #Sizzle

Molly, Mary, and Janae: Thank you for the work you put into making this team what it is today. You all have contributed to my amazing experience at SMU and I can’t thank you enough. Molly Grover thank you for being the tree to my koala?

Tay Tay: Thank you for being one of my best and first friends at SMU. I don’t know what I would do without you by my side everyday. Probably go crazy…for sure go crazy. Thank you for being there for me and always giving me good advice. You are an amazing person and I can’t wait to come visit you in the big girl world next semester! Don’t forget to invite me to your wedding by the way, because if I am not I will be crashing it with Macki Fadness.

Al: The first day you got here we were instantly friends and have grown to be best friends and someone I can always count on. You have always been there to support me and just be there whenever I need you. You are an amazing player and I am so proud of you for how far you have come since your injury. Thank you for being an awesome human being!

Macki: Wow. So many memories but where do I start. I think our friendship started when you decided to be a generous person and let me hangout with you and the hockey girls. What a great time! You are so funny and you are always positive and I love that about you because whenever I am feeling down on the court you always bring me back up and get me back into a great mood. So glad we became best friends who inhale giant bags of chips together…and finish them. We are such good friends.

Emily: I don’t know what I am going to do without your hilarious stories! My life will be so dull without you. Whenever I am around you I am always laughing, don’t ever stopping telling your funny nursing home stories. #DellaForPrez. You are going to be so successful and I cant wait to see how well you do in PA school, you are so smart and amazing!

Jordan: Jord I don’t know what I would do without you, my fellow back row nugget. I always look forward to playing with you on the court; you are an amazing person and player. You are one of the scrappiest players I have ever had the pleasure of playing with. It is amazing the stuff you can pick up, seriously! You amaze me and I am so lucky to have played with you for four years.

Jenna: I am so happy you decided to stay another year and be my roommate! You are an amazing player with subpar setting skills, but hey you’ll get there;) Just kidding you are such a great player all around and you will definitely be teaching my children how to play volleyball in the future, because they should learn from the best! And I don’t know anyone who watches more educational volleyball videos than you do.

Moe: Thank you for being the other Chicagoan who makes weird faces and gets really confused when the rest of the team talks about some weird Minnesota tradition or when they say things really strange. Also when they gang up on us saying that were the ones that are weird. (Clare you are also included in this exclusive club of cool kids) I have had so much fun playing with you by my side the last three years. You have unreal service receive and serving skills that I am jealous of, it just amazes me. I am so sad to be leaving you but I cannot wait to come back and watch you tear it up.

Maddie: You are probably one of the most athletic people I know. You are so strong and have grown so much since you have gotten to SMU. You have become an amazing setter who works her butt of everyday on and off the court. I applaud your work ethic it is unreal. Obviously I am going to be sad to leave but I will probably see you more than you’d think since our dads will need to visit each other so they don’t get withdrawals from each other. Remember to keep working on refraining from saying sorry all the time and keep working hard!

Murb: The award for best snap chats definitely goes to you, no competition. I would like to put all the screen shots in here to show everyone how funny you are but I don’t think that’s aloud and it will take up to much room. Anyway, you still scare me when I defend your hits because you hit so hard so thank you for never giving me a mouth full of leather. Keep working hard you are a great player.

Britt: You have beautiful hands that dish out beautiful sets! You have been a key of success for our team. You work so hard to get every ball, even if it means we have to stop and wipe up the sweat trail you leave behind, but no worries I am right there with you! I am so glad that I had the pleasure of playing with you and get to know you because you are one of the funniest people I know. Also thank you for always being there for me when I needed someone to finish the rest of my food when I cant finish.?

Sara: Still working on that six-pack, I will send you a picture when it finally comes in. Don’t count on it though. Sara you have become such an incredible player! It has been awesome seeing you develop into to such a strong blocker and hitter (who can hit ten foot line no problem). Keep up the good work syrup you’re a stud.

Cass: I am so happy you came to SMU! I remember watching you play in high school and thinking you should come play at SMU, and look at you now; you are killing it. It is always a good time hanging out with you on and off the court; you are an awesome person and friend. I will be back to see you next year and I can’t wait!

Clare: You work so hard every day and do whatever you can to get better and it is awesome seeing someone with that kind of dedication. Playing next to you on the court is so much fun and I am going to be sad not having our fun DS talks during timeouts, that are always oh so fun.

B: I know you are going to miss my awesome athletic training skills when you need someone to tape your knee at away matches and tournaments.? You are a great player and you are only going to get better and I cannot wait to see you play when I am gone! I am really going to miss your stories about showing cows and other animals and the state fair because I find it very interesting because I don’t know anything about that stuff. You are awesome and I am going to miss you.

Brandi: Give me your vertical! It is insane how high you can jump and how hard you can hit the ball. You are a stud and I can’t wait to see you kill it in basketball in the winter because I have heard you are a stud at bball too. #BballBrandi

Glo: You are so funny and you never fail to make us laugh! You have worked so hard throughout this season and I am sad I wont be here to see how far you will go in the coming years. Stay sassy my friend!

Ciara: You are so down to earth and fun to hangout with. You are hilarious and I love listening to your stories on bus rides! You always keep the mood light on the court and it is always fun playing with you.

Jordyn: You are such a smart player; you can hit shots that are so frustrating to defend! Keep working hard at everything you do on and off the court. Have fun and remember these four years go by so fast, so make the best of everything you do. KARF!

Leah: Your positivity and dedication on the court is incredible! You are always willing to work harder everyday. You are already an awesome player and I can’t wait to see you play in the future.
