A Word From Coach Lester
I have put off writing this for about as long as I possibly could (sorry Donny). I just really haven’t wanted to confront the thoughts of this senior class ending their time as Cardinal Volleyball players, and perhaps more importantly ending their time here as students on our campus. It is a group that as a whole truly cannot be replaced. It has to be one of the most unique collections of student-athletes that we have ever had.
Southeast Minnesota fully represented with: Emily, Jordan, Tayler, and Alex; our Wisconsin hockey player with: Macki; our Twin Cities 5th year senior: Jenna; and our Chicago city girl: Lex. All of whom have to come together to build an amazingly close knit group.
This group has constantly demonstrated the selfless attitude that successful programs are built around. Each and every one of them putting team success first, and individual glory way down the list. They all have given everything they have to continuing our tradition of success and each has made immense contributions in taking that success to the next level.
I have never coached a group of players that has been so committed to each other and yet pushed each other to be the best players and people they could be. We as a program have been through so much over their four (five), years that it is impossible to list them here.
I want to thank each and every one of you for making the decision to attend Saint Mary’s and be a part of the Cardinal volleyball program. It doesn’t matter when you decided to join us, what matters is that you did, and you stayed with us for your entire collegiate career. Your investment in our program has paid off in so many ways for us, and I can only hope that you have enjoyed your time as much as I have enjoyed having you all around.
Saint Mary’s will miss you, the athletic department will miss you, your teammates and assistant coaches will miss you, and for the sake of this Salute, most importantly: YOUR COACH WILL MISS YOU …
