A Word From Coach Cassidy

Seniors—First and foremost, thank you! Thank you for being a part of this program, thank you for moving away from home to call Saint Mary’s your new home and thank you for the positive impact you have had on our program. It is with a heavy heart that I am saying farewell, you have been through the highs and the lows and have worked hard both in the classroom and on the field. Again, thank you for what you have done for our program, you will be missed!!

Aubrie: Goalie turned field player turned goalie turned field player. I remember the first time we met and we made you go to the ‘M’ club dinner! I am sure it was that, that made you want to commit to Saint Mary’s. I also remember the first time I watched you in Kansas and you let a goal through your legs and then chatting with you after the game to tell you that we were still interested in you! I am still not going to forget you nearly causing the upstairs to crash on my head at the barn house, but that was a great weekend. Sharing time with you in the van in Ireland and you being let in on the box dance was pretty amazing! You have a kind heart and soul and can do anything you put your mind to! Be brave, take risks but don’t forget about us! Thank you for everything you have done for the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer program.

Bridgett: Shy and meek on the field to tough and ready! I think my favorite memory with you is meeting up in the Dells as you were ready to commit to Saint Mary’s. I can remember how exciting it was as well as the nerves for the upcoming year. You are always ready to learn and I know based on that you are going to be an amazing teacher! You take each coaching point with a nod of the head and you always always play your heart out! The trip to England was another great memory that I am fortunate to share with you, however I have never known anyone to take as many selfies as you ?, the lamppost one made me chuckle the most! Your caring and nurturing traits will set you up for success, keep those as your core values and life will be amazing!! Thank you for everything you have done for the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer program.

Ellen: The stalwart of our defense! I am thankful for the player that ended up going to a different school. The reason I am thankful is that I came to watch her play and saw you for the first time, I remember your distinct heading style and thinking at last a player that can head it!! Your thirst for knowledge to make you a better player and a person is fantastic, you can take what we ask of you and put it into practice. It was a sad day to see you get injured last year and sorry that it robbed you of a season, but you came this year ready to go!! You have been a leader on the team and for that I am thankful! Public relations is going to be the perfect job for you and I am sincerely looking forward to how you shape the world. You will have a great positive impact on this world because that is you! Thank you for everything you have done for the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer program.

Emma: The magician of our midfield! Humble – Without question you are the best collegiate player I have had the pleasure to coach. You are calm, all of the time and your team mates can count on you both on the field and off. The first time I saw you was at the MTA showcase, I marked down on my notes long shot for us. So glad it worked out for you to come even though your dad is a Johnnie ? The impact you have on other people’s lives is a joy to watch, I do not think you know how much of an impact it is, but I do. I have really enjoyed getting to know you through you being a captain this year and thank you for the advice that you have shared in those meetings! You are an amazing human being and you will do wonders for the next generation. Hopefully see you in Rochester! Thank you for everything you have done for the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer program.

Marissa: The magic left foot! The first time we met was on a Saturday during your visit, I remember coming down to my office and chatting with you and your father. What stood out to me at that point was how caring and selfless you are, something which has been proven over and over through your four years here. I have not heard one negative comment from you and that is an inspiration, not only to me but others! I am also going to miss your random comments in practice and your self-commentary when you are playing. I hope that you achieve the dreams you deserve and know that you are an amazing person who has touched a lot of lives and will continue to do so. Thank You for everything you have done for the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer program.
