A Word From Coach Lester
This is perhaps one of the most difficult senior salutes I have had to write. I don’t know where the time has gone for the three of you (or where the last 21 years has gone for me). This group of seniors truly epitomizes what hard work, dedication, and perseverance can get you. Three players who have been dedicated to the success of our team and played a wide variety of roles over the years. Three players who have worked tremendously hard sometimes without reward for that work. I couldn’t be more proud to say that that work has finally paid off for you all.
So many players at all levels strive for that one chance at a playoff run. You have all been lucky enough to have NEVER missed the MIAC playoffs in your career. One of only a few players who can say they have been a part of FOUR MIAC playoff teams. All three of you playing critical roles in one way or another on those teams.
Morgan, you have been a critical on court presence for us over your four years, and when called upon to step into the libero role this year you have helped continue a fantastic tradition of defensive play. Molly, I have never seen a player more determined to prove her point on the court than you. From a player who rarely got the ball in high school to a first team All-MIAC player, and one of the most dynamic offensive middles in the league, your success has been astounding. Maddie, I once told you that you would never hit outside for Saint Mary’s, but look at where we are now! You have been such an integral part of our success (from serving specialist, to setter coming off the bench to spark a big conference win last year, to a fixture on the outside), your athleticism and sense of team never cease to amaze.
With the loss of a large group last year I think some people may have counted us out, but because of your DRIVE and LEADERSHIP we have managed to be extremely successful this year, and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.
Maddie, Molly, and Morgan, I would like to thank you so much for your hard work, dedication, and leadership for our program through your career here at Saint Mary’s. You are all wonderful individuals and will be extremely successful in everything you strive to achieve.
THANK YOU!
Coach Lester
