A Word From Coach Watkins
VICTOR MENDOZA: Vic has been a tremendous addition to our team since transferring in to Saint Mary's three years ago. He has worked very hard on his game and has evolved into one of the best defenders that has played here in the past several years. Vic has earned tremendous respect from his teammates and our staff and he has a very bright future. Saint Mary's is a better place for having Vic Mendoza compete for our team and we look forward to watching him as he moves into the next chapter of his life.
JIM DRESHAR: James has scored some great goals against some of the best NCAA Division III teams in our region. He has a keen sense for the goal and has developed his overall game as he has matured into his career. In particular, as a senior, Dresh has stepped up his leadership and sense of team-first and it's paid off for him and the squad. As a staff and as a team, we are very appreciative of the work James has put into moving our program forward to the next level.
BRETT HEIMERDINGER: One of the most impactful recruits we were able to attract here to Saint Mary's is Brett Heimerdinger. He is tremendously well thought of in our locker room and across the entire spectrum of our program. Brett is the type of athlete who makes the guys around him better. As a fan of the game, I enjoy watching him play and the way he reads the game. I hope Brett continues to stay involved in the game from a coaching standpoint, as I know he has a lot to offer the next generation of players. His commitment to the sport is deep and we are proud he chose Saint Mary's as the program to continue his career.
NATE BLANK: Nate is a terrific athlete who has been a key performer for our team since his freshman year. Nate has brought a great spirit and sense of team to this years squad- his leadership has been a big part of our improved performance this year. As a captain this fall, I know Nate's teammates have been impressed and inspired by his qualities and the manner in which he competes for Saint Mary's. I have very much enjoyed working with Nate over his four years here and appreciate everything he has done for our team.
JAMES LARSON: James is the consummate NCAA Division III student-athlete. His career here at Saint Mary's has had a great balance between pursuing academic excellence and becoming the best soccer athlete he can be. He has taken on every challenge we have thrown at him and each time he has excelled, including serving as a captain this season. As much as I have enjoyed working with James and having him represent our University, I am even more eager to watch his next chapters of life as he heads on to graduate school and beyond. Saint Mary's has been very fortunate to have James compete for us for the past four years."
