Connor Bids Farewell

Connor Bids Farewell

It is hard to believe my college basketball career is about to come to an end. The last four years have been the hardest I have worked on my game; along with the most fun I have had playing basketball. I have created a bond with my teammates that will never be broken and I will hold on to those friendships forever.

First, I would like to thank my parents for everything you have done for me. I thank you for all the sacrifices you have made to allow me to pursue my dream of playing college basketball. I remember the tournaments and road trips we made together. Whether it was for three on three or five on five tournaments, I was always there and ready to go because of you guys. You have always been there to support me throughout my ups and downs. I remember crying after a game when I was younger because I asked if I could “follow” my guy on the court and dad yelling, “No don’t foul”. It was a heat of the moment situation and was just a miscommunication. In the end I did not “foul” my guy, I just followed him. I remember you both being there for me and I thank you again for everything you do and have done for me.

Second, I would like to thank my girlfriend. You always come to my basketball games when you can. I know it was hard for you at first because you grew up in a hockey family, but I am proud to have morphed you into a basketball fan. You are always the one person I can count on for anything. Thank you for all of your sacrifices and long nights waiting up for me until I get home from away games. I truly appreciate everything you do for me.

Next, I would like to thank my coaches. I would like to thank Coach Rusthoven for everything you have done for me and for giving me an opportunity to play for the Cardinals. You have pushed me to become the best player I can be as well as being a leader both on and off the court. You have taught me to always carry yourself with good body language and respect no matter what the score is. Thank you Coach Peterson for everything you have done this year. I enjoyed our games of pig and free-throw contests throughout the year. Without the help of these coaches, I would not have had the success I did these last couple years. I can see all the hard work in the film room and on the road that you both have put in and I wish you both good luck in the future.

I would like to say thank you to all my other family and friends who have come to my games and shown support. I enjoy talking with you after the games. I am very fortunate to have the family and friends I do that will come support me on any given night. Finally, I would like to thank my teammates. Every one of you has helped me become the player I am today. From every day in practice to running the hill this fall, you have pushed me to become better. You all have made every day enjoyable for me to be around you guys. I truly could not ask for better teammates and I thank every one of you.

To the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen on the team: I just want to tell you to enjoy every single day you have with each other. The last four years have gone by way too fast for me. I believe you have a really strong foundation and will continue to build after this year. I wish you all the best of luck and I can’t wait to come back and watch you guys next year.
