Rory Bids Farewell

Rory Bids Farewell

To my hockey family: “Your team vs. our family.” This is a quote that almost brought me to tears this year when it was said in the locker room because of how true it is. The passion each one of you have for the game and one another is beyond words and I am so grateful to have spent the last four years with such a great group of girls. There were days where school was overwhelming and the stress of hockey became too much but you girls are what kept me sane. If I ever had my head down or I was having a terrible practice I could count on you to cheer me up and make the best out of a bad situation. You have all become family to me and I can’t stress it enough when I say to make the most of your years at Saint Mary’s. Have fun and never give up on the sport you love because at the end of the day you will always have your hockey family on your side. Before I came to SMU, people always told me that college flies by and hockey goes by faster but I never thought what they were saying would hold true. Enjoy the feeling of the cold air hitting your lungs after a tough skate, the long bus rides, the endless jam sessions, and the forever friends because these are memories I will never forget.  W I T

Kassie: Hockey has not only given me a family but it gave me my best friend. I want to especially thank you for always being there for me and always having my back. I can’t wait to come back and watch you kill it next year! Love you!

Seniors: Well ladies, our time is here! Time to turn into big girls and go into the real world with our big girl jobs. You ladies have been with me since day 1 and I’m truly blessed for every single one of you. Good luck with whatever the future holds for you ladies! Love you guys!

Mom and Dad: Thank you for pushing me to become the person that I am today. Over the years you have showed me that hard work and perseverance will take you a long way and I used those skills throughout my years in school and on the ice. Dad, thank you for forcing me to skate in the mornings before games and sending me off to Slovakia to experience the European way of hockey. Mom, thank you for pushing me to be my best and believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself.

Coaches: Over my last 4 years you guys have become a huge part of my life and have had a major impact on me. I know it was difficult trying to break me of my bad habit (you know what I’m talking about) but I think it is safe that you succeeded. You guys taught me to know my role on the ice and use it to my advantage. Thank you for always having faith in me and trusting me on and off the ice. GMO, I’m sorry but you will always remember me as your first recruit ?

Jillian: Going to your office was the worst and best thing to happen. The worst because no one wanted to end up there for an injury but the best because you became our second mom. I’m glad my injuries were cool enough to make your wall….I mean who doesn’t like a broken knee cap right?

Matt: Thank you for working us until our legs fell off. You definitely helped contribute to the success of this team by pushing us to work our hardest. I wont miss running three periods on “Friday Funday” at 6 am but I will miss being in great shape! PS. I hope you learned your lesson about playing SMUWH in Odds.
