Tori Bids Farewell
Mom and Dad- Thank you for every opportunity you have given me, thank you for sitting on the edge of your seats at all the games you came to waiting for the final buzzer to sound so you could finally breathe. Thank you for taking on the role of a goalie parent with grace. Thank you for giving me all of the best- the best teams, the best coaches, the best equipment- you’re the reason I’m here. You’re the reason I have come as far as I have. Thank you for driving hours and hours for practices, games, tournaments, and clinics. Thank you for your never ending support, encouragement, and pride. Mom thank you for always being so eager to watch me play, for being excited for me, and for always reminding me that you love me and are proud of me. Dad, thank you for your pep talks and chauffeuring and phone calls, and for the never-ending reminder to keep the puck in front of me. I don’t think there’s any advice more fitting. Thank you both for i
Coaches- Both of you have been great influences on me as a hockey player and also as a person. Gmo I have become a goalie I always wished I could because of the countless hours you’ve put in with me one on one. Ever since freshman year you have been challenging me and pushing me to use my full potential and I owe much of my success to the confidence you have in me. Weekly goalie sessions were a novelty I very much appreciated; we worked through a lot of my bad goalie habits and had some fun in the process. I’m also glad you still remember that I work in base 16. Terry I have never had a coach care as much as you do about their players. I also have never had a coach who was so confident in me that they raised my confidence too. Thank you for building me up and giving me all the opportunities to show what I’m capable of. I’m glad you have been so accepting of my “wit” and have dished some right back at me. And just so you know, every time you scored on me in practice it’s because I let you.
To my teammates- Fellow seniors it has been a pleasure to play hockey, attend classes, and become friends with each of you. We have had so many experiences together that I will never forget and hope to reminisce about in the future. Good luck in your endeavors, and I know you will all be within a short few hours of a road trip after graduation so if you ever need someone to hem your pants just let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
Juniors- you are quite the bunch. I am happy to say that you have been a great group of girls to go through college with. You are all great teammates and friends I will miss dearly. Keep the tradition of SMUWH going for us and keep your heads up and know what you’re capable of! (if you don’t know, it’s greatness, you are all capable of greatness) I look forward to attending games next year and seeing how you are all doing, I’ll do my best to be wearing my reds so I stick out ?
Sophomores and first years- becoming close with each of you has been a pleasure. Looking back I wish I was still in the first years of college and not even thinking about playing my last competitive games- and so I could be with all you lovely people for a couple more years. Enjoy every second you are given. It passes way faster than you can ever imagine.
Mitchell- thank you for being my number one fan and coming to every game you possibly could whether it was home or away and for watching the games you couldn’t make online. Thank you for always bringing a cheering section to my games with you and making sure I knew everyone was there.
