• FOR THE RECORD: The Eagles head into their season-opening weekend matches at the Sugar Loaf Classic having finished 13-17 overall a year ago, including a 1-6 mark in their seven-match WIAC season.
• HOME SWEET HOME: UW-La Crosse collected seven of its 13 wins on its home court. The Eagles finished the year 7-4 at home, while managing a 6-13 showing away from Mitchell Hall in La Crosse, Wis.
• ROUGH START: The Eagles struggled out of the gate a year ago, dropping its first seven matches — all by 3-0 counts. UW-L rebounded by rattling off five consecutive wins, before closing out the year 8-10 in its final 18 contests.
• ON THE ATTACK: UW-La Crosse finished the year with 1,293 kills (12.93 kps) and boasted four players who closed out the season with 100 or more kills. … Brianne Korducki delivered a team-high 330 kills in 2022, followed by Gabrialla Johnson with 317. Madison Weisensel (198) and Anna Rossner (105) also eclipsed the 100-kill mark. … Korducki and Johnson both posted 19 matches with 10 or more kills — including a season-high 20 kills. Korducki notched her 20-kill effort against UW-River Falls on Sept. 19 and Johnson matched that against Wheaton (Ill.) on Oct. 21.
• GIVING AN ASSIST: Megan Adams closed out the year accounting for more than half of the Eagles’ assists, tallying 677 helpers (6.45 aps). Jackie Oetterer chipped in 260 assists as the duo combined for 937 of UW-L’s 1,206 assists a year ago. … Adams recorded 10 or more assists in 29 of the team’s 30 matches last season, including four matches of 30+ assists. … Adams dished out a season-high 39 helpers against Wheaton (Ill.) on Oct. 21.
• SERVING UP ACES: UW-L ended the year with 166 service aces, and got at least 10 aces from seven different players. Adams led the way for the Eagles with 33 aces, followed by Korducki with 27 and Ella Luoma with 25. Sydney Fedderly (19), Summer Schwenn (17), Keller Frinzi (16), and Oetterer (14) also served up more than 10 aces last season.
• DIGGING IT: Along with her team-leading 330 kills, Korducki also led the Eagles with 300 digs, with Adams (294), Schwenn (249), and Fedderly (215) also posting more than 200 digs. Luoma (155) and Oetterer (117) gave UW-L six players with 100+ digs last season.
• DOUBLING UP: Adams delivered a team-leading 15 dig/assist double-doubles — including a season-best 39 assists and 26 digs against Wheaton (Ill.) on Oct. 21, while Korducki posted 10 kill/dig double-doubles.
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: UW-La Crosse picked up eight of its 13 wins in three sets, while adding three, four-set wins and a pair of five-setters. On the flip side, UW-L was swept 10 times and dropped four, four-set matches as well as one five-setter. … UW-L finished the year 14-16 in the first set, 12-18 in the second, 14-16 in the third, and 5-7 in the fourth, while going 2-1 in its three five-set matches. … The Eagles delivered a season-high 66 kills against Wheaton (Ill.) on Oct. 21, while posting a season-best 49 assists against both Hamline (Sept. 17) and Buena Vista (Oct. 1), and a season-high 84 digs against Loras on Sept. 24.
