Joe Seegers is an assistant baseball coach at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, a position he has held since the start of the 2018-19 academic school year
Seegers graduated from Saint Mary’s in 2018, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management, and also serving as a four-year mainstay on the Cardinal baseball team.
A three-time Academic All-MIAC and two-time MIAC All-Defensive Team performer, Seegers enjoyed his best season in a Cardinal uniform as a senior, starting all 36 games for the Cardinals at shortstop, closing out the year with a .323 batting average, while leading the team in at-bats (127), runs (27), hits (41), triples (3), walks (15), and stolen bases (7). In the field, Seegers finished with a .951 fielding percentage, posting 51 putouts and 104 assists in 163 chances.
Seegers—who started every game during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons—closed out his career ranking No. 3 all-time in assists (312), while also sitting in the Top 10 in runs scores (7th, 92), fielding chances (7th, 526), and at-bats (10th, 423). His 111 assists during the 2016 season rank No. 2 in the program’s single-season record book.
