Zach Malvik is the assistant men's basketball coach at Saint Mary's University, a position he has held since the start of the 2013-14 academic school year.
Prior to his arrival at SMU, Malvik — a four-year standout during his playing days at Winona State University — spent five years as the director and head coach of ZM Basketball Inc. & Pure Intensity Basketball.
As a player, Malvik headed to Winona State after a stellar high school career at Holmen High School, where he was the school’s all-time leading scorer, not to mention a two-time La Crosse Tribune Coulee Region Player of the Year, three-time Mississippi Valley Conference Player of the Year, and a three-time all-state honorable-mention selection.
While at Winona State, Malvik was a three-time All-Northern Sun Conference selection — and a member of the 2006 NCAA Division II National Championship squad — while also closing out his career No. 1 in program history in assists (549) and No. 2 in scoring (1,971). The Warriors also boasted a 104-29 record — including an NCAA Division II-record 57-game winning streak — with Malvik at point guard.
After graduating cum laude from Winona State with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Malvik played three seasons of professional basketball with the Kilsyth Cobras in the Melbourne, Australia SEABL League.
