Alberto Centeno is the assistant men's soccer coach at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, a position he has held since the 2025 season.
A Saint Mary’s alumnus and former collegiate goalkeeper, Alberto played for the Cardinals during his undergraduate years from 2015 through 2019 before going on to compete in the UPSL and NPSL semi-pro soccer leagues.
He also attended multiple pro tryouts and combines where he trained and played alongside former professional athletes and received high-level coaching. His experience has helped shape his tactical understanding of the game and sharpened his ability to coach young athletes.
Prior to rejoining Saint Mary’s as the assistant coach, Alberto was the goalkeeper coach for women’s soccer team at Carthage College and as a varsity assistant coach at the high school level at Saint Augustine Prep.
In addition to his work on the field, Alberto has also been in the classroom, working as a full-time teacher for the past six years. His educational background brings a player-focused, developmental approach to coaching, emphasizing communication, accountability, and growth both in and out of the soccer field.
