Leo Barbosa serves as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach for the Cardinals, a position he has held since 2025. Prior to this role, he was the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach for the Cardinals during the 2023–24 and 2024–25 academic years, contributing to the program’s development and success.
A native of Brazil, Barbosa played for high-level youth clubs equivalent to the U.S. **MLS Next** tier, including Monte Castelo FC and Venda Nova. He moved to the United States in 2010 to attend Missouri Valley College, where he later joined the coaching staff. During his tenure, the team secured a conference championship and earned two appearances in the NAIA National Tournament.
Barbosa’s coaching career spans multiple Minnesota-based clubs, including North Star FC (formerly Minnesota Rush) and Salvo SC. He served as Director of Coaching for the Euro Football Club (2012–2016) and the Kasson-Mantorville Soccer Club (2016–2018). Since 2021 Barbosa acts as Technical Director for Minnesota Rush, overseeing boys’ competitive programs, futsal, and goalkeeping initiatives.
