Shawn McMahon is the head men’s and women’s track and field coach at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, a position he started at the beginning of the 2007-08 school year. In addition to coaching, McMahon also serves as an instructor to both the Physical Education and Sports Management programs at SMU.

McMahon comes to Winona most recently from UW-Stout where he assisted the men’s and women’s track and field teams for two years while teaching in that institution’s Physical Education Department.  Working mainly with the horizontal jumping events, McMahon saw seven individuals qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships, fifteen earn all-conference recognition, and one win a conference title.  Formerly employed at West Salem (WI) High School, McMahon acted as the head boys’ track and field coach there for six season followed by two more as an assistant.
 
A graduate of UW-La Crosse with a BS in Biology, McMahon was a member of the Eagles’ track and field team from 1996-98 and was an all-conference competitor in the long jump.  In 2004, he received his Master’s Degree in Instruction from Saint Mary’s and spent the 2004-05 academic year teaching English in Japan.
