Petersen played four years at NCAA Division III Chatham University, located in Pittsburgh.
As a defenseman, she was the team's leading scorer (13-16-29) as a senior, which allowed her to lead the nation in points-per-game by a defenseman (1.26). The senior campaign earned Petersen her first career all-conference selection, as she was named to the All-United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) First Team.
For her career, Petersen tallied 59 points (24-35-59) over 95 games for the Cougars, to graduate as the school's all-time leader in both points and assists. She was an ECAC All-Academic selection as a sophomore and a junior, and earned UCHC All-Academic accolades as a senior. Petersen missed just two games over her four years in the City of Bridges.
Petersen also played softball at Chatham, and was a four-time Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) All-Academic selection.
Originally from Faribault, Minn., Petersen is a 2018 graduate of Chatham University, with a degree in exercise science.
