Brueggen went from an NCAA Division III provisional qualifier to an automatic qualifier last Saturday at the Luther Norse Relays, as the Cardinal senior shattered the school, stadium and Norse Relays records by winning the hammer throw with a toss of 60.76 meters. Along with his first-place effort in the hammer, Brueggen was also second in the discus (39.27 meters). Brueggen has now qualified for both NCAA indoor and outdoor championships in each of his last two years.
