Martin Gruse (Trenton, Mich.) netted his first collegiate hat trick to account for three of the Cardinals' five goals in their 5-2 nonconference win over St. Scholastica last Friday.

Gruse followed up his three-goal game by assisting on two of the Cardinals’ five goals in the Cardinals' 5-4 win over Northland last Saturday, giving the sophomore nine points—five goals and four assists—in Saint Mary’s last three games.

Gruse’s hat trick vs. St. Scholastica was his second multiple-goal game of the season—the sophomore scored twice vs. Aurora on Dec. 6, while also notching his first collegiate four-point game by adding a pair of assists vs. the Spartans. …

Gruse—who has nine points in his last three games (5 goals, 4 assists)—heads into this weekend's two-game MIAC series against Bethel as the team leader in goals (10) and points (19).
