Playing in her first game as a member of the Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team, Kurkowski made an immediate impact, having a hand in three of the Cardinals’ four goals in last Friday’s season-opening 4-1 win over St. Norbert.
Kurkowski picked up the lone assist on Avrey Simonson’s first-period goal, before scoring career goals No. 1 and No. 2, one in the second period and one in the third, to complete her three-point night.
Kurkowski and the Cardinals (1-1 overall) are back in action on Saturday, hosting UW-River Falls in a 2 p.m. contest at the Saint Mary’s Ice Arena.
