Game Summary vs. Coe / GameDay Online

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A year ago, the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team entered their seventh game of the season mired in a season-opening six-game losing streak.

A streak the Cardinals promptly put an end to with a 57-54 nonconference victory over Coe.

Wednesday evening, the Cardinals entered their seventh game of the season once again trying to shake free from a season-opening six-game losing streak.

And once again, SMU's seventh opponent was the Kohawks.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, history didn't repeat itself Wednesday, as Coe avenged last year's loss, handing SMU its seventh straight loss, 79-54.

Brittany Begrowicz (Des Plaines, Ill.) scored a team-high 13 points in the losing effort, while Michelle Carne (Escanaba, Mich.) and Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.) also scored in double figures for the Cardinals, finishing with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Coe's Sarah Anciaux was an assist away from a triple-double, as the sophomore scored 13 points, added 10 rebounds and dished out nine assists.

After seven straight road games, SMU (0-7 overall) finally gets a chance to play on their home court on Saturday, as the Cardinals play host to Saint Benedict in a 3 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
