WINONA, Minn. —
Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) scored a game-high 24 points and
Lukas Holland (La Crosse, Wis.) added 22 as the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team put together its first two-game winning streak of the season with a 77-58 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Concordia at the SMU Gym.
The Cardinals, who knocked off Hamline 80-72 a week ago, jumped out to five-point, 32-27 lead at the half, then poured it on over the final 20 minutes, shooting 53 percent from the field en route to a 45-point second half.
Along with Wright and Holland,
Bradley Bruno (Chicago, Ill.) also scored in double figures for SMU (3-5 in the MIAC, 4-9 overall), scoring 12 points. Erik Lien scored 23 points to pace Concordia, while John Fraase added a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Cardinals will shoot for their first three-game winning streak since the 2006-2007 season — when the Cardinals beat Saint John's, Macalester and Hamline — on Saturday, when SMU hosts St. Olaf in a 3 p.m. contest at the SMU Gym.
