The Cardinals put an end to their season-high six-game losing streak last Wednesday, handing Hamline an 80-72 setback at the SMU Gym. … Concordia, meanwhile, used a late 9-0 run to rally to a 62-59 victory over Saint John's Saturday in Moorhead, Minn.

Last Meeting: The Cobbers cruised to a pair of conference wins against the Cardinals a year ago. SMU held Concordia to just 71 points — including 31 over the game's final 20 minutes. Unfortunately, on the offensive end,, the Cardinals were ice-cold, shooting just 29 percent from the field, scoring a meager 19 second-half points and struggling to a season-low 44 points. The end result — a 71-44 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to the Cobbers at the SMU Gym on Jan. 20, 2008. The Cardinals came up just short — again — in their season finale vs. the Cobbers on Feb. 23, 2008, as Concordia held off a furious SMU second-half comeback to beat the Cardinals 84-77 in the regular-season finale for both team.

Cardinal Notes: Wednesday's win vs. Hamline not only snapped SMU's season-high six-game losing streak, but it also put an end to a five-game conference slide. The Cardinals opened MIAC play with a 67-65 victory over Macalester on Dec. 3, but had not won a conference game since. … Bradley Bruno (Chicago, Ill.) scored a career-high 22 points, and also pulled down 10 rebounds en route to his first collegiate double-double. … Lukas Holland (La Crosse, Wis.) chipped in a season-best 21 points vs. the Pipers. It was the fourth time this season Holland has scored 20 or more points, and the 18th time in SMU's last 19 games that he has reached double figures. … Wednesday's game marked the first time this season SMU had two players with 20 or more points in the same game. …  Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) — coming off back-to-back 20-plus point performances — finished with 15 points vs. Hamline. He has now scored 10 or more points in 31 of the team's last 37 games — including 20 or more points eight times in the Cardinals' last 12 contests. … Bruno's 22-point effort marked just the second time this season — and just the second time in SMU's last 28 games — that Holland and Wright have not led the team in scoring. … Wright and Holland enter tonight's game averaging in double figures, with Wright boasting a team-best 20.9 ppg average, while Holland is at 15.8 ppg. … Bruno's 22-point night vs. Hamline was the 11th time in 12 games that the Cardinals have boasted a 20-point scorer. SMU's loss at St. Cloud State on Dec. 30 marked the only time in the Cardinals' 11 games that they have not had a 20-point scorer. … SMU's 80 points vs. Hamline was the second time this season the Cardinals have scored 80 or more points. The other came in an 84-70 victory over MacMurray on Nov. 22. … SMU made a season-best 30 field goals vs. the Pipers, while also posting season-highs in rebounds (44), assists (13), steals (8) and blocked shots (10).

Cobber Notes:
The Cobbers' come-from-behind win over Saint John's Saturday was the second straight victory. The Cobber are 2-3 on the road this season. … Concordia has scored 60 or more points in 12 of its 13 games — including a season-high 84 points in an 84-79 win over Pacific Lutheran on Nov. 28. It's the only time this season the Cobbers have eclipsed the 80-point mark. The only game in which Concordia has not scored at least 60 points was in a 60-54 defensive struggle against Carleton on Dec. 8. … The Cobbers scored the game's final nine points over the last two minutes to beat Saint John's. … John Fraase enters tonight's game as Concordia's leading scorer, averaging 16.7 ppg.
