Cardinal Notes: Just a day after scoring a career-high 20 points in SMU's loss to St. Catherine last Saturday,
Cherie Kulig (Independence, Wis.) was at it again Sunday, tossing in a new career-best 22 points in SMU's loss to Concordia. It was her fourth straight double-figure performance and the seventh time this season she has netted 10 or more points. … The Cardinals have led at the half just twice in their first 12 games. … SMU snapped a string of three straight games in which they were held under 30 second-half points with their 31-point effort vs. the Cobbers. Concordia's 45 second-half points, meanwhile, were the second-most allowed over the final 20 minutes this season. St. Catherine scored 49 in last Saturday's 74-58 win. …
Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.), who recorded her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds vs. Hamline on Jan. 7, was held to just nine points vs. Concordia. It was the second straight game in which the high-scoring sophomore was held under 10 points. … Kulig and Miller lead the team in scoring, boasting 11.3 and 10.3 ppg averages, respectively. …
Michelle Carne's (Escanaba, Mich.) team-high eight points vs. St. Thomas on Dec. 10 was the first time since Alysse Coates and
Jess Weisbrod scored eight points vs. Carleton vs. Carleton on Feb. 9, 2008 — and just the sixth time in their last 86 games — that SMU failed to have a double-figure scorer. … With their loss to Concordia, SMU's season-opening losing streak climbed to 12 straight, and left the Cardinals searching for their first win since a 63-48 win over St. Olaf on Feb. 2 — a span of 19 straight games (SMU closed out the 2007-08 season with seven consecutive losses). … The Cardinals' loss at Hamline on Jan. 7 dropped SMU to 0-8 on the road this season. SMU is now 1-19 in their last 20 road games, with their lone road win a 57-54 victory over St. Olaf on Jan. 5, 2008.
Ole Notes: The Oles opened the New Year with a 13-point win at Augsburg on Jan. 3, only to drop their next three heading into today's contest. … Two of St. Olaf's three wins came via back-to-back victories over St. Scholastica and Augsburg on Dec. 31 and Jan. 3. … The Oles scored just 44 points vs. St. Scholastica, their second-lowest offensive performance of the season — and won, 44-40. … The Oles have scored more than 61 points once, in a 76-63 win over Augsburg, while giving up a season-high 80 points twice — opening the season with 80-62 and 80-45 losses to Hamline and UW-Eau Claire, respectively. … Elyse Erickson, who is averaging a team-best 17.2 ppg, has led the team in scoring in seven of the team's 11 games ...
