Last Action: The Cardinals picked up a pair of key Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victories over Hamline on Dec. 5-6. Nicole Olson (New Brighton, Minn.) scored two goals as the Cardinals snapped a five-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Pipers at Drake Arena on Dec. 5, then got a pair of goals to spark from Katie Cachey (Orland Park, Ill.) to spark SMU to a 5-2 win in the rematch a day later at the SMU Ice Arena. … The Bulldogs are also coming off a long layoff, having not played since a 4-0 victory over Chatham on Nov. 30.

Last Meeting: This weekend's nonconference series between SMU and Adrian is the first ever between the two schools.

Cardinal Notes: Nicole Olson (New Brighton, Minn.) scored the first two goals of her collegiate career vs. Hamline in SMU's 5-3 win on Dec. 5, while Stevie Fiek (Rochester, Minn.) also netted her first goal as a Cardinal vs. the Pipers in that same 5-3 victory. … Ingrid Klockars (Wheaton, Ill.) scored a goal in each game vs. Hamline, while Katie Cachey (Orland Park, Ill.) netted two in the Dec. 6 win over the Pipers, and the two lead the team in both goals (4). The two, along with Sheree Haslemore (Gore, New Zealand), share the team points lead with five. … Dy-Anna Stewart (Eden Prairie, Minn.) posted her first two-point game of her SMU career — garnering a pair of assists in SMU's Dec. 5 win — and shares the team lead in assists (2) with Fiek and Francie Steger (Chicago, Ill.). … Madeline Lenz (White Bear Lake, Minn.) made her third and fourth straight collegiate starts vs. Hamline, stopping 50 Piper shots, giving the SMU freshman 185 saves in five starts. … The Cardinals' Dec. 5 win snapped SMU's season-high five-game losing streak. … SMU has now scored five goals in each of its three wins — a 5-4 victory over UW-Eau Claire, and 5-3 and 5-2 victories vs. Hamline. … By giving up three goals to the Pipers on Dec. 5, SMU has now allowed three or more goals in 15 of its last 17 games, and 24 of its last 32. … The 5-3 win at Hamline was the first road victory of the season for the Cardinals, who went 2-8-2 away from home a year ago. … The Cardinals, who scored just nine power play goals a year ago, have already scored eight power play goals this season — including two vs. Hamline. … SMU's Nov. 8 win over UW-Eau Claire was also SMU's first nonconference win since a 4-2 victory over Finlandia on Feb. 4, 2006, a span of 12 games (0-10-2).

Bulldogs Notes: Adrian's 4-0 victory over Chatham snapped the team's three game winless streak (0-2-1). … After opening the season with four straight wins, the Bulldogs are 3-4-1 in their last seven. … The Bulldogs have played in three overtime games this season, going 2-0-1 — including 2-1 OT wins over Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes Bethel and Gustavus. Adrian also played UW-Eau Claire to a 2-2 tie. … Erin Roach stopped all 19 shots she faced vs. Chatham en route to her first collegiate shutout. … Adrian's shutout of Chatham was its third shutout victory of the season — the Bulldogs also shut out Buffalo State (5-0 and 4-0) earlier this year. … Stacy Kempson enters this weekend's nonconference series vs. SMU as the team's leader in goals (7) and points (11). … Kempson, Jessica Grubbs and Prenella Semma all share the team lead in assists with four. … Roach and Dana Timm have shared the goaltending duties, combining to stop 306 shots (.936 save percentage) and post a 1.88 goals-against-average. … Eleven of Adrian's 27 goals have come in the third period.
