Last Action:
The Cardinals returned to conference play Saturday, getting 26 points from Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) but coming up short in falling to Saint John's 77-67 in Collegeville, Minn. … Carleton, meanwhile, got 23 points from Zach Johnson and a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds in beating Hamline 82-66 Saturday in Northfield, Minn.

Last Meeting: The Knights picked up a pair of hard-fought victories over SMU a year ago. Carleton raced out to a 26-18 first-half advantage and never looked back in handing SMU a 62-51 setback at the SMU Gym on Jan. 12. In the rematch, Saint Mary's took its first lead of the game, 71-70, on a Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) layup with three seconds remaining. Following a timeout, the Knights got the ball to Zach Johnson, who missed his shot, but senior Tommy Drake had a tip-in as time expired to lift Carleton to a 72-71 victory in Northfield, Minn., on Feb. 9.

Cardinal Notes: After opening their conference schedule with a 67-65 win over Macalester on Dec. 3, the Cardinals have dropped their last four MIAC games, including Saturday's loss at Saint John's. … SMU has also now dropped its last five straight. … Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) scored a team-high 26 points in SMU's loss at Saint John's. It was the 15th time in his two-years as a Cardinals that Wright has eclipsed the 20-point barrier. Wright has also scored 10 or more points in 29 of the Cardinals' last 35 games. … Lukas Holland (La Crosse, Wis.), who was held under 10 points for just the second time in SMU's previous 18 games with a seven-point showing vs. St. Cloud State on Dec. 30, returned to form with 18 points vs. SJU. … Holland and Wright have led the team in scoring in 26 of the team's last 27 games. … Wright and Holland enter tonight's game averaging in double figures, with Wright boasting a team-best 21.1 ppg average, while Holland is at 15.5 ppg. … SMU's loss at St. Cloud State on Dec. 30 marked the only time in the Cardinals' 10 games that they have not boasted a 20-point scorer. … SMU's loss to SJU Saturday extended their winless streak to 39 straight on the Johnnies' home floor. … The Cardinals' 67 points vs. Saint John's equaled their second-highest offensive performance of the season. Rosett's 13 rebounds equaled his career best. … Zach Johnson, who leads the MIAC in scoring with a 20.7 ppg average, scored a game-high 23 points, and added nine rebounds and three assists. It was Johnson's seventh 20-plus performance this season. … Johnson has now led the team in scoring in eight of their nine games. … Johnson and Rosett both enter today's game averaging in double figures, with Johnson boasting a 23.6 ppg average, while Rosett scoring at a 13.0 ppg clip. … Carleton scored 18 of the final 19 points in the first half of its win vs. Hamline, while also closing the game on a 20-4 run. … Carleton has outscored its opponents by 13, 276-269, in the opening half, but boast a commanding 347-310 scoring advantage over the game's final 20 minutes. … The Knights' 82 points vs. Hamline were a season high.
