MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team, coming off a 2-0 loss to Gustavus in St. Peter, Minn., on Wednesday, remain on the road Saturday, traveling to Concordia for a 1 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against the unbeaten and league-leading Cobbers.

SMU Cardinal Notes: The Cardinals outshot Gustavus 10-6 Wednesday, with both teams boasting five shots on goal. … SMU GK Mariana Sanchez (Puebla, Mexico) finished with three saves vs. the Gusties and has now stopped 46 of the 53 shots she's faced this year. The senior goalkeeper enters today's game boasting a 0.97 goals-against-average and an .868 save percentage. … Sanchez's four shutouts are a single-season career high and give the SMU senior 10 shutouts for her four-year career. … Dana Winkler (Lake Geneva, Wis.) netted the game's lone goal in last Saturday's 1-0 victory over St. Catherine, giving the SMU senior a career-high three goals this season. In fact, Winkler's three goals this season equal her goal total for her first three seasons as a Cardinal combined. … Amy Sibik (Onalaska, Wis.) picked up her third assist of the season on Winkler's goal and now leads the team in goals (10) and points (23). … Sibik's 10 goals are two shy of the career-high 12 goals she scored as a freshman, and give her 30 for her three-year career — ranking the SMU junior seventh all-time. … Sibik, who led the team in scoring in each of her first two seasons — and owns seven career multiple-goal games — is just three points shy of her career-best 26 points, recorded during the 2007 season. … Caitlyn Cole (Larsen, Wis.) holds the team lead in assists with five. … SMU's 2-1 loss to Macalester on Sept. 22 was the Cardinals' second overtime game of the season. SMU is still looking for its first overtime win since a 1-0 win over St. Catherine on Sept. 13, 2007, going 0-2-3 in five OT games since then. … SMU has only allowed three goals in the first half this season.
Concordia Cobber Notes: The Cobbers — who come into today's conference game ranked No 18 in the latest NSCAA national poll — have had the upper hand against the Cardinals over the last decade, outscoring SMU 23-4 in winning the teams' last 10 meetings. … Concordia's 18th national ranking is the highest in the program's history. … The Cobbers are one of eight teams in Division III that are unbeaten or untied out of the 414 schools that make up NCAA Division III women's soccer. Of those eight teams only three other teams have won at least eight games in the year. … Concordia has outscored its first nine opponents 19-4 and have posted five shutouts in its last six games. … St. Catherine and St. Olaf each forced the Cobbers to overtime, but both came out on the short end — the Wildcats losing 1-0 on Sept. 23, while the Oles dropped a 2-1 double-OT decision three days later. … Sam Johnson leads the team in goals (6) and points (14), while Abby Habein's five assists are a team high. … The Cobbers' 19 goals have come from nine different players, while 13 different players have recorded at least one point through nine games. … GK Ali Nelson has been a workhorse in goal for the Cobbers, posting a 0.36 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage. … The Cobbers have played in the MIAC Tournament's championship game in each of the last five seasons.
