GRINNELL, IA – After a canceled game on Saturday, the Saint Mary's women's soccer team (1-0-1) had to regroup and turn their focus to a new game. The Cardinals traveled to take on Grinnell (0-1-1) on Sunday morning and battled to a 1-1 draw.
The Cardinals started the match with a burst of energy. They put pressure on the Pioneers' defense, which led directly to a Cardinal goal.
Just six minutes into the game, senior Hannah Bradley intercepted a pass from the defense and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper from outside the penalty box, catching the goalie off her line.
The lead did not hold long as a breakaway goal from the Pioneers followed just three minutes later.
Kaylen Pray would have the next-best look for the Cardinals with a shot 20 minutes into the first, but the Pioneers finished the half with five shots compared to the Cardinals' two.
It was a stalemate for the rest of the game as the Cardinals were on their toes, keeping the game even.
Sophomore Peyton Bremer was in net for the Cardinals, making five saves on the day in her second collegiate appearance.

The Saint Mary's women's soccer team is ready to be back home. The team will be hosts all weekend.
Hosting Wartburg College on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 1:00 p.m. for their home opener before following up by ending the weekend home stretch against Millikin on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 1:00 p.m.
