Last Action:
The Cardinals struggled from the field Saturday, making just 8 of 26 first-half field goal attempts in falling to St. Olaf 55-47 in Northfield, Minn. … Concordia, meanwhile, has been off since last Wednesday, when the Cobbers led wire-to-wire and cruised past Macalester 78-60 in Moorhead, Minn.

Last Meeting:  Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) scored a game-high 24 points and Lukas Holland (La Crosse, Wis.) added 22 as the Cardinals put together their first two-game winning streak of the season with a 77-58 conference victory over Concordia at the SMU Gym on Jan. 14.

A Year Ago: The Cobbers cruised to a pair of conference wins against the Cardinals a year ago. SMU held Concordia to just 71 points — including 31 over the game's final 20 minutes. Unfortunately, on the offensive end,, the Cardinals were ice-cold, shooting just 29 percent from the field, scoring a meager 19 second-half points and struggling to a season-low 44 points. The end result — a 71-44 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to the Cobbers at the SMU Gym on Jan. 20, 2008. The Cardinals came up just short — again — in their season finale vs. the Cobbers on Feb. 23, 2008, as Concordia held off a furious SMU second-half comeback to beat the Cardinals 84-77 in the regular-season finale for both team.

Cardinal Notes: St. Olaf's 55 points Saturday were the fewest allowed by the Cardinals this season. The Oles' 22 field goals and two 3-pointers were also the fewest allowed by SMU this year. … Last Wednesday's win over Hamline was the Cardinals' third straight victory over the Pipers. … The Cardinals' 84-point outburst vs. the Pipers equaled the team's season high (SMU scored 84 in an 84-70 victory over MacMurray on Nov. 22). … Two of SMU's two three offensive outputs have been vs. Hamline. SMU netted 80 vs. the Pipers in an 80-72 victory in the teams' first meeting on Jan. 7. … SMU knocked down a season-best 37 free throws vs. the Pipers. The Cardinals were 37-for-47 from the line. The 47 free throw attempts were also a season high. … Bradley Bruno (Chicago, Ill.) scored a game- and career-high 23 points vs. the Pipers last Wednesday. It was the second time in his career that Bruno has eclipsed the 20-point barrier. … Bruno was one of five SMU players to score in double figures vs. Hamline. Lukas Holland (La Crosse, Wis.) added 18 points, while Eric Burroughs (St. Paul, Minn.), Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) and Pat Freeman (Champlin, Minn.) added 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively. … Wright, who boasts the team's top seven offensive performances of the season — including a season- and career-best 41 points vs. MacMurray on Nov. 22 — scored a team-leading 17 points vs. St. Olaf Saturday and has now scored 10 or more points in 21 of the Cardinals' 23 games this season, and has scored in double figures in 43 of his 48 collegiate games. … Wright and Bruno also share the team lead with two double-doubles each. Wright boasted 22 points and 10 rebounds vs. Winona State, and 41 points and 10 boasts vs. MacMurray, while Bruno posted 22 points and 10 boasts vs. Hamline and 12 points and 10 rebounds vs. Macalester. … Holland was held to just two points vs. St. Olaf Saturday. It was just the fourth time in the last 30 games that the SMU sophomore has failed to score at least 10 points. …  Bruno's 23-point effort vs. Hamline marked the 16th time in SMU's 22 games in which SMU boasted at least one 20-point scorer. … Wright and Holland enter tonight's game averaging in double figures, with Wright boasting a team-best 18.6 ppg average, while Holland is at 15.5 ppg. The two are also ranked No. 3 and No. 4 in the MIAC in scoring, respectively. Wright is averaging 17.7 ppg in 18 conference contests, while Holland is scoring at a 15.5 ppg clip. … Holland is third in the conference in free throw percentage (89-for-101, .881 %), while Wright is No. 2 in steals (33, 1.83 spg). … As a team, the Cardinals rank No. 1 in the MIAC in offensive rebounds (11.18 orpg). … Brad Knights (Plainfield, Wis.) has missed just one free throw in his three-year collegiate career. Fueled by a 9-for-9 effort this year, Knights is 19-for-20 in his SMU career. … The Cardinals' 70-65 win over Macalester on Jan. 21 was their first overtime game since the 2002-03 season, when SMU lost to UST 65-62. SMU's last overtime win came on Dec. 6, 2000, when the Cardinals posted an 80-70 win over St. Olaf.

Cobber Notes: Wednesday's win over Macalester was the Cobbers' second in their last three games. … Last Wednesday's game was also the first of three straight home games to close out the regular season for the Cobbers. … Concordia was held to a season-low 49 points in its 57-49 loss at Saint John's on Feb. 7. … Concordia boasted five players in double figures vs. the Scots and shot a season-best 53 percent (10-for-19) from 3-point range last Wednesday. … Last Wednesday's win was also the 499th career coaching win for Cobber head coach Rich Glas. … Concordia's win vs. Macalester was its second straight home win. … John Fraase scored a team-high 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for his 13th double-double of the season vs. Macalester. Fraase's double-double was also the 11th in the team's 18 league games. …  Fraase is now averaging 14.9 ppg and 10.7 rpg and is on pace to become Concordia's first-ever player to average double figures in scoring and rebounding for a season. … Johnathon Molina, making just his fourth career start, scored a career-best 11 points to go along with a career-high six assists vs. the Scots. … Darrin Olmscheid also had a double-double for Concordia vs. Macalester, scoring  15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. It marks the second double-double of his career. … The Cobbers outrebounded Macalester 43-31. The 43 rebounds ties for the second most this season.
