MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's hockey team, coming off a pair of one-goal conference losses to St. Thomas last weekend, are back on the road Friday night, traveling to Augsburg for a 7:05 p.m. contest against the Auggies in the first game of the teams' two-game, home-and-home MIAC series.

Last Action: The Cardinals dropped a pair of heartbreakers to league-leading St. Thomas last weekend. The Cardinals and Tommies traded second-period goals, but the Tommies' Taylor Schluter broke the deadlock with a powerplay goal five minutes into the third period, lifting St. Thomas to a 2-1 win Friday at the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights, Minn. The Tommies then scored three third-period goals, erasing SMU's 3-1 lead and handing the Cardinals a 4-3 setback at the SMU Ice Arena a day later. Augsburg, meanwhile, dropped both games of their conference series against Hamline, falling 4-1 on the Pipers' home ice on Friday, then falling 3-2 on Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn.

With their 2-1 and 4-3 losses to St. Thomas last weekend, the Cardinals have now played 11 one-goal games this season — including three in their four contests. SMU is 3-7-1 in those 11 games. … SMU has now lost 2-1 on each of the last two Friday's — falling 2-1 to Bethel on Feb. 22, then dropping a 2-1 decision vs. St. Thomas last Friday. … Sheree Haslemore (Gore, New Zealand), Madison Sienko (Mendota Heights, Minn.) and Katie Cachey (Orland Park, Ill.) acconted for SMU's three goals in Saturday's 4-3 loss to St. Thomas, while Erin Stenseth (Eau Claire, Wis.) accounted for the Cardinals' lone goal in Friday's 2-1 setback. … Cachey has now collected four points — two goals and two assists — in the Cardinals' last three games. … Nicole Olson (New Brighton, Minn.) leads the team with 10 goals and is also the team-leader in points with 15. …  Stevie Fiek (Rochester, Minn.) pushed her team-leading assist total to nine. … SMU boasts three players with 10 or more points — Olson (15), Fiek (13) and Cachey (11). … Kaye Collier (Hibbing, Minn.) posted back-to-back 31-save performances vs. St. Thomas last weekend. … Collier has stopped 36 or more shots three times in her collegiate career — also kicking out a career-best 39 saves vs. Lake Forest on Nov. 1 and stopped 38 Gustavus shots on Jan. 16. … Collier, who has notched three shutouts this season, enters today's contest against Augsburg boasting a 1.73 goals-against-average and a .936 save percentage. … SMU's six goals vs. Marian on Jan. 9 equaled its season high and are the most in a game since the Cardinals beat Hamline 8-0 on Feb. 25, 2004. … The Cardinals have outscored their opponents 16-7 in the first period and 15-10 in the second, but have been outscored 16-10 in the game's final 20 minutes. … The Cardinals have scored first in 12 of their 17 games, going 8-3-1 in those 11 games. They enter tonight's home game vs. Saint Mary's looking for their first win of 2010 and their since a 4-3 win over St. Thomas on Dec. 12, 2009. … Augsburg has allowed four of more goals in 11 of its 17 games. On the flip side, the Auggies have been held to one goal or less in 11 of its 14 losses. … Augsburg has played two overtime games this season — both against Saint Benedict — with both games ending in a tie.
