WINONA, Minn. - The Saint Mary's University men's soccer team fell to Carleton College 3-1 in the Cardinals' conference home-opener on Saturday at Ochrymowicz Field.
"We played decently today, there were just some breakdowns in certain moments that cost us," SMU coach Chris Dembiec said. "We had some chances, but things just didn't go our way today."
The Cardinal's lone goal came in the 89th minute, when
Steve Boussie (Troy, Mich.) kicked one home on an assist from
Juamaine Venter (Rochester, Minn.)
"It was kind of a break that the ball bounced the way it did, but Steve is a great finisher and he was able to put it away," Dembiec said.
SMU is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to La Crosse, Wis., for a 4 p.m. nonconference game against Viterbo.
