OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University men's soccer team, coming off a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime loss to Viterbo on the road Tuesday, is back in nonconference action on Saturday, traveling to UW-Oshkosh for a 7 p.m. contest against the Titans.

The Cardinals got on the board first against Viterbo Tuesday evening, but the V-Hawks scored once in the game's final 20 minutes and then netted the game-winner seven minutes into overtime to beat SMU 2-1 in La Crosse, Wis. UW-Oshkosh, meanwhile, pushed its season-opening unbeaten streak to eight (7-0-1) with a 4-0 victory over Marian Wednesday in Fond du Lac, Wis.

Last Meeting — September 7, 2003:
The Cardinals and Titans have not met since the 2003 season, when UW-Oshkosh handed SMU a 1-0 setback in Oshkosh, Wis. Derek Kasten scored the game's only goal less than two minutes into the second half, taking a feed from Shane Lohr and beating SMU goalkeeper Bob Endemann.

Tuesday's game marked the second straight season in which SMU and Viterbo have gone into overtime. The two teams battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie a year ago. … Tuesday's loss also snapped an eight-game unbeaten streak (4-0-4) in overtime games. SMU's last OT loss was a 3-2 setback vs. Macalester during the 2006 season. … Juamaine Venter scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season to account for SMU's goal vs. the V-Hawks Tuesday. … Venter, who recorded the first two-goal game of his career vs. Crown on Sept. 7, is also the team-leader in points with 12. … After scoring just two goals in his first two seasons with the Cardinals combined, Venter has already netted five goals in eight games this season.
