NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's golf team kicked off its season in interesting fashion on Saturday, as the Cardinals played a modified match-play tournament against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Carleton College.

The two teams played 10, 18-hole match-play matches, with points being awarded for winning the Front 9, Back 9 and the entire 18 holes.

The Knights dominated the competition, handing SMU a 26-4 setback.

Scoring single points for SMU was Matt Feriancek (Prescott, Wis.), Will Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn.), and Zach Cizek (St. Paul, Minn.), while Eric Zimmerman (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Dominick Von Aulock (Des Plaines, Ill.) each recorded a half of a point for SMU.

The Cardinals are back in action on Sunday, traveling to Hudson, Wis., for a dual meet against Macalester
