WINONA, Minn. — For the fifth game in a row, the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team boasted a 20-point scorer.

This time around, however, it wasn't Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.).

Jamie Stefely (Lisle, Ill.) scored a game- and career-high 21 points — and added 10 rebounds for good measure — as the Cardinals cruised to a 74-62 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Augsburg Wednesday at the SMU Gym.

Stefely, who collected her second double-double of the season, scored 11 of her 21 points in the first half, as the Cardinals built what appeared to be a commanding 37-24 halftime advantage.

The Cardinals bent, and bent, and bent some more in the second half, as Augsburg cut the SMU lead to as little as six, 48-42, with less than 11 minutes remaining in regulation.

That was as close as the Cardinals would allow Augsburg to get, however, as SMU used a 14-5 run to push the lead to 62-47 and never looked back.

Renee Pecarina (Winona, Minn.) chipped in a season-high 10 points for the Cardinals, who snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 6-5 in the MIAC and 8-6 overall.

Brittany Dyshaw scored 17 points to lead a trio of Auggies who scored in double figures. Brittany Zins chipped in 12 points and Lexi Thompson tallied 10 for Augsburg (2-10 MIAC, 3-12 overall).

The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, when they play host to Gustavus in a 1 p.m. conference contest at the SMU Gym.
