ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University swimming and diving teams have a busy weekend ahead of them, taking on Macalester in a dual meet on Friday, then taking part in the Roger Ahlman Invitational, hosted by Macalester, on Saturday afternoon.

Cardinals' Last Action:
The Cardinal women dropped a 134-102 decision to Concordia in a dual meet at the Jul Gernes Pool last Saturday. The SMU men, meanwhile, have been off since Nov. 5, when the Cardinals placed third at the Hamline Invitational in St. Paul, Minn.

Liz Flynn (Mahtomedi, Minn.) and Linda Tierney (Cloquet, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals against Concordia last Saturday, each picking up a pair of first-place finishes. Flynn continued her dominance of the diving competitions, winning both the 1-meter (201.30) and 3-meter (203.70) events, while Tierney won the 200 IM (2:25.43) and 100 freestyle (59.54). … Sivan Fogel (Haifa, Israel) added a first in the 200 freestyle, while giving SMU a 1-2 finish in the 100 backstroke with a second-place time of 1:12.07. … Abby Kratzke (Dent, Minn.) finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:09.09) and Anna Smaron (Maple Plain, Minn.) won the 100 breaststroke (1:18.78). … Mark Ross (Dubuque, Iowa) was second in both the 200 freestyle (1:56.78) and 100 backstroke (57.38) to highlight the men's effort at the Hamline Invitational on Nov. 5. … Neil Heacox (San Diego, Calif.) finished third in both 100 breaststroke (1:08.29) and 200 IM (2:13.03).

“We've got a lot of swimming coming up with the dual against Macalester on Friday and the (Macalester) Invitational on Saturday. We're going to go up there and give it our best shot — if you've got a lane, you've got a chance.”
