MIAC POW Release
WINONA, Minn. — The men's hockey season is only three weeks old, and it's been a season of firsts for Saint Mary's University's
Mike Hill (Fort Worth, Texas).
Oct. 27 vs. Bethel: First collegiate assist— make that first two collegiate assists — in his first collegiate game.
Nov. 2 vs. UW-Superior: First collegiate goal.
Nov. 9 vs. Hamline: First collegiate two-goal game and first collegiate three-point performance.
Nov. 10 vs. Hamline: First collegiate four-point game — and second straight two-goal performance.
And Monday, Hill etched another first on his resume, as the sophomore forward was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
SMU kicked off its MIAC season in style last weekend, sweeping past Hamline 9-2 and 6-2 ¬— and Hill was a major contributor in the Cardinals' high-octane offense.
Hill scored two goals and added an assist in SMU's 9-2 win at the SMU Ice Arena on Friday, then did that performance one better in the team's rematch on Saturday, netting two goals and adding to assists in a 6-2 win.
For the season, Hill — who has recorded at least one point in all five games he's played — leads the team in assists (6) and points (11), while sharing the team lead in goals (5).
The Cardinals return to a action on Nov. 24, when they travel to Adrian, Mich., for a 7 p.m. nonconference game against unbeaten Adrian, before heading to Ann Arbor, Mich., on Sunday for an exhibition game against the U.S. National Development U18 Team.
