LA CROSSE, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University track and field teams return to action on Friday, as the Cardinals take part in the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge.

Cardinals' Last Action:
Jake Traxler (Le Center, Minn.) and Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) recorded first-place finishes in the steeplechase to lead the Cardinals at the Luther Norse Relays last Saturday.

Up Next:
The Cardinals have a busy week next week, as the SMU men travel to Moorhead, Minn., to take part in the Concordia Invitational, while the Cardinal women are headed to St. Paul, Minn., for the Hamline Invitational on Wednesday. Both teams then return home for the SMU Open on Saturday at the SMU Track & Field Complex.

Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) and Jake Traxler (Le Center, Minn.) stole the show at the Norse Relays last Saturday, as duo won both 3,000-meter steeplechase events — Stolz taking the women's race with a time of 12:30.03, while Traxler stopped the clock in school record-setting time of 9:36.12 to win the men's race. … In a rematch of the MIAC Indoor Championships shot put competition, Coco Booker (St. Paul, Minn.) posted a second-place effort Saturday in the Norse Relays shot put, as the Cardinal junior uncorked a throw of 12.65 meters to finish second to Becky Culp of Hamline, who won the event with a toss of 13.21. At the MIAC Indoors, Booker delivered a career-best and fieldhouse record toss of 42-7, a mark that was broken by Culp's winning throw of 42-8. … In other individual events at the Norse Relays Saturday, Amy Spitzmueller (New Brighton, Minn.) was fifth in the steeplechase (13.02.86), while Tyler Kircher (Cashton, Wis.) was sixth in the javelin (38.83 meters), and Gus Wiggert (La Crosse, Wis.) was sixth in the shot put (12.75 meters) and ninth in the hammer (39.46 meters). … The Cardinal men's sprint medley relay team of Andrew Merkert, Mark Caark (La Crosse, Wis.), Alex Davis, Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) posted a second-place time of 3:39.62. … The SMU women's sprint medley relay team of Laura Schommer (Hutchinson, Minn.), Rebecca Krueger (Ashland, Wis.), Kim Puk (Naperville, Ill.), Regina Quandt (Minneapolis, Minn.) was third, breaking the tape in 3:29.84. … Davis, Borash, Colin Sheehan (Austin, Minn.) and John Soucheray (Woodbury, Minn.) chipped in a fourth-place showing the 4 x 800 relay, recording a time of 8:14.37.
