GameDay Preview
WINONA, Minn. — With conditions more conducive to an outdoor hockey game, a pair of Saint Mary's University women's track and field athletes were heating things up at the Winona State Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Coco Booker (St. Paul, Minn.) and
Clare Siska (Rochester, Minn.) didn't seem to mind the unseasonably cool temperatures and biting winds, as the Cardinal duo highlighted SMU's efforts in the non-team scored event.
Booker uncorked a season-best toss of 12.26 meters to place second in the shot put, while Siska stopped the clock in 20:39.06 to place fourth in the 5,000.
Maya Booker (St. Paul, Minn.) and Abby Osborne (Winthrop, Minn.) also posted top-10 finishes, with
Maya Booker placing eighth in the hammer throw (39.18), while Osborne was right on her heels, recording a ninth-place throw of 38.54.
Mary Hayes (Chicago, Ill.) posted SMU's top time in the 800 (2:39.27), followed by Jocelyn Moreno (2:39.73) and Ashley Bolig (Saint Croix Falls, Wis. / 2:50.07), while
Beth Scott (Rochester, Minn.) added a team-best time of 5:22.70 in the 1,500.
The Cardinals are back in action next Friday, as SMU travels to La Crosse, Wis., to take part in the UW-La Crosse Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational.
