ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University swimming and diving teams are finally back in action on Saturday, as the Cardinals travel to St. Catherine to take part in the St. Catherine Invitational.

Cardinals' Last Action:
The Cardinals competed in a meet during their winter training trip to Puerto Rico, and again during their SMU Alumni Meet, but they have not been in competitive action against other NCAA Division III schools since Nov. 16, when the SMU men placed fourth and the women seventh at Macalester's Roger Ahlman Invitational.

January 26, 2013: Led by the efforts of Mark Ross (Dubuque, Iowa), P.J. Heller (St. Cloud, Minn.) and Sarah Jansen (Manitowoc, Wis.), the Cardinals' performances put a smile on coach Eric Lindquist's face. Heller and Ross each collected a pair of top-10 finishes to lead the Cardinal men to a fourth-place team finish, while Jansen shined in the diving competitions to pace the SMU women's eighth-place showing in St. Paul, Minn.

Saturday's action will be the first against a complete NCAA Division III field in two months for the Cardinals, who last competed at the Roger Ahlman Invitational on Nov. 16. … P.J. Heller (St. Cloud, Minn.) and Joe Tonda (St. Paul, Minn.) had busy days for the SMU men at the Roger Ahlman Invitational, as Heller was fourth in 50 freestyle (23.89), sixth in 100 freestyle (52.28), and seventh in 200 freestyle (1:58.03), while Tonda posted fourths in the 200 IM (2:10.22) and 100 backstroke (1:00.24), and a fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.43). … Heller and Tonda — along with Scott Carnahan (St. Cloud, Minn.) and Sam Keutzfeldt (Mahtomedi, Minn.) — also notched a third-place performance in the 200 freestyle relay (1:49.54). … Evan Lecy chipped in a pair fourth-place showings in the diving competition, placing fourth in both the three-meter (142.05) and one-meter (159.30). … On the women's side, Anna Smaron (Maple Plain, Minn.), Marit Christianson (Cottage Grove, Minn.) and Grace VanBeest (Flossmoor, Ill.) all recorded top 10 showings at the Roger Ahlman Invitational. … Smaron was ninth in the 200 IM (2:32.51) and 12th in the 200 breaststroke (2:48.06), while Christianson was 10th in the 1,000 freestyle (12:52.36), and VanBeest was 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.58). … Ashling Meehan (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) finished 11th in both the 50 freestyle (28.33) and 100 freestyle (1:02.04) for the SMU women.
