WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University senior Scott Deur could not have picked a better time to put together a career weekend.

The Cardinal senior — playing in his final two games in a Cardinal uniform — collected five points in SMU's 6-5, 8-3 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sweep of Hamline last weekend.

And while the five-point weekend was the frosting on his collegiate hockey career cake, the MIAC put the cherry on top on Monday, naming Deur the conference's men's hockey Athlete of the Week.

Deur, who scored just once in the Cardinals' first 23 games, scored twice and added two assists — on Senior Night — in their come-from-behind 6-5 overtime win over Hamline last Saturday.

The Cardinal forward then capped off his memorable weekend by scoring again in Sunday's rematch with the Pipers, which SMU won 8-3 to finish the season 10-14-1 — the most wins in a season since going 11-13-1 during the 2004-05 campaign.

The two-goal and four-point game vs. the Pipers last Saturday were collegiate firsts for Deur, who closed out the year with a career-best four goals, to go with three assists and seven points.

In four seasons with the Cardinals, Deur appeared in 69 games, recording seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points.
