RIPON, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University volleyball team put an end to their four-match losing streak in convincing fashion Friday evening, as the Cardinals cruised to a 3-1 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering at the Ripon Red Hawk Invitational.
And as good as the Cardinals were in their tournament-opener, they were even better in their second match of the season, cruising to a 3-0 win over UW-Superior.
Cassidy Bittle (Winona, Minn.)—coming off a career-high 18-kill showing against nationally ranked St. Thomas, recorded a team-high 14 kills and hit .485 against MSOE, while
Kenzie Lind (Rushford, Minn.) and
Alex Peterson (Harmony, Minn.) each recorded 11 kills. Brittney Hansen (Janesville, Minn.) and
Tayler MacVey (Dodge Center, Minn.) finished with 20 and 18 assists, respectively, and
Lex Krogstad (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a team-leading 21 digs.
Against the Yellowjackets, Lind and
Molly Grover (Zumbrota, Minn.) led the Cardinal offense, each compiling nine kills, while
Macki Fadness (Eau Claire, Wis.) chipped in eight. Hansen recording a career-high 20 assists, and Lind and
Morgan Thomas (Palos Park, Ill.) each tallied nine digs.
The Cardinals (7-5) close out tournament play on Saturday, squaring off against UW-River Falls at noon and host Ripon at 2 p.m.
