WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's hockey team kicks off its two-game Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series against Augsburg at home on Friday, as the Cardinals entertain the Auggies in a 7 p.m. contest at the Saint Mary's Ice Arena.

February 8, 2014: After failing to score in their 4-0 setback against Augsburg the previous night, Saint Mary's got its offense shifted out of neutral, netting single goals in each of the first two periods. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, Augsburg also kicked its offense up a notch, improving on its four-goal performance by one, as the Auggies scored the game's first two goals and never relinquished the lead in handing Saint Mary's a 5-2 setback at the Saint Mary's Ice Arena. | Recap

With their 3-2 win over St. Olaf last Saturday, the Cardinals have now won their last two overtime games—both by 3-2 decisions. Saint Mary's 3-2 OT victory over St. Catherine on Dec. 6 snapped its five-game overtime winless streak (0-1-4). … With their sweep of St. Olaf last weekend, the Cardinals have now recorded four  two-game series sweeps this season—the most since the 2003-04 season. With their loss and tie against St. Thomas, the Auggies saw their winless streak climb to seven straight (0-5-2). Augsburg's last win was a 1-0 decision over St. Norbert on Jan. 9. … Augsburg has not scored more than two goals in a game in since a 5-2 win over Saint Benedict on Dec. 6—a span of nine games.
