Westerberg's 77 leads way at GAC Bobby Krieg

Day 1 Tournament Results

JORDAN, Minn. — After a couple spring "tune-ups" over the past week, the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's golf team got down to business Sunday in the opening round of the 36-hole Gustavus Bobby Krieg Invitational.

Blake Westerberg (Red Wing, Minn.) carded a five-over-par 77 at Ridges at Sand Creek to lead the way for the Cardinals, who are sitting in 13th place after the first round of the two-day tournament.

Brett Jackson (Edmonton, Alberta) and Hunter Rau (Plainview, Minn.) each chipped in 84s, while David Iten (Fridley, Minn.) added an 85 and Connor Brandt (Woodbury, Minn.) finished with an 88 as the Cardinals posted a 330 opening-day total.

Gustavus and Saint John's share the team lead with identical 300s, two shots better than Augsburg, with Saint John's II and UW-Eau Claire tied for fourth at 304.

Saint John's Collin Seal fired a one-under 71 to earn Day 1 medalist honors. He holds a one shot lead of teammate Mitch Pfingsten and Gustavus' Chris Captain heading into Monday's final round, which will be played at the LeSueur Country Club in LeSueur, Minn.
